I can't click on it, I've been living in the us for years now but I'm originally from France (born and raised) and moms there have 3 years of paid maternity leave, People 25 years and older get 450€ a month when they're unemployed even if they never worked a day in there lives. When you go to college, you only have to pay 450€, and that's if your parents make 100k or more a year, if they don't, then it's free and you receive money every month. France supports lazy people, that's why the country is going downhill, I'm happy I left. Hopefully they'll never do this here
@sab I find that interesting. There are things that the US should change as far as maternity goes. I just don't see how supporting all of that is possible without taxing people to death.
That's the thing with the U.S we call these things other than taxes.
Deductibles and premiums for healthcare, tuition, monthly payments to childcare facilities, so on and so forth.
France does have taxes, but they don't pay premiums, tuition, ect. If you add up all of that to what you're paying, you're paying far more of your income overall then they pay in just taxes that gives them these support systems.
Same thing here in Quebec, Canada. We have our year long maternity leave, we get child benefits from the government for every kid, daycare is partly paid by the government (depending on your salary) and organised daycares are supervised by the government in terms of employees and the food they serve. It's not 3 courses meals like in the article but it has to follow the Canadian Food Guide.
Honestly, all of this makes it so much less stressful and manageable to work and have young kids and struggle less with money.
