Ocular migraines
I was diagnosed about 15 years ago with ocular migraines. Over the years I have become fairly adept at recognizing the signs of an impending one and being able to lessen the actual headache. Every now and then (like today) one literally blindsides me and I lose all vision in my right eye and feel like I'm being stabbed in the skull. When this happens, medicine is ineffective and all I can do is curl into a ball and try to sleep it off. Do any of you have any remedies that at least help with the pain? I'm ready to cut my head off at this point.

Ugh! I know that stabbing pain you're talking about. Fiorcet used to work for me but I think my new doctor gave me a lesser strength and it doesn't even touch the pain anymore.
Have you tried Botox? That's my next option.

I haven't tried Botox-it makes me nervous. I took imitrex for awhile, but the rebound headaches it gave me were nearly as brutal as the migraine, so I stopped taking it.

I wet a small towel with cool water, add some peppermint and lavender essential oils and spread it over my head. It helps a lot, especially if I fall asleep like that.

I tried a warm compress, maybe I should switch to the cool one.

Yes, I find the coolness very soothing. Usually I can't handle cold stuff on me, but when I have a migraine it feels so much better to have something cool on my face. I also put a fan on me at full blast. Feels nice plus helps the smell of the essential oils spread.

I am trying turmeric curcumin for mine. I've just started it a few days ago, so hoping it works. It was suggested on my urgent care post.
Renee·
Is that in pill form, Murdock?

It is. I got it from Amazon.

So there has been studies on fugus of the "magic" variety at an incredibly low dose. So low there is no "magic" happening. Apparently people with these type of debilitating headaches get relief very quickly. Just letting you know about the research. Not condoning anything. Just talking theoretically.

Lemon juice shots? Never heard that, worth a shot (no pun intended).
Thanks, pandora. Lol. Someone actually suggested herbal refreshment as well. She actually has a prescription for it and finds it more effective than other meds.

Hey guys, I sell young living essential oils. They have one called mgrain . I know people with migraines that swear by it, others say it takes away most of it. I personally don't have migraines (only regular headaches) so I can't personally attest. But if you're interested you can message me here or they my Facebook page, perseverance essential oils.
