HELP!
My daughter has been day weaned for a month and night weaned for a week and a half. The issue I'm having is that my breasts are engorged and painful. Do any of you have any tips for drying up my milk?

Cold cabbage leaves, any type of decongestant that dries up snot (benedryl ect.) Tight bras and hand express just enough to relieve pressure so you don't risk mastitis.

Thanks. I tried hand expressing a bit today. I don't think I did it enough though, I wussed out because they hurt so bad. I'll try the Benadryl tonight.

Tequila, lots of tequila.
Seriously though I'm dreading this day, I don't do well with engorgement pain ?

I have never done it yet but have read about peppermint essential oil being good to dry up breastmilk. And sudafed

Sudafed will dry you up really well. Cabbage leaves will help with the engorgement and discomfort.

Bebe: do I rub the oil on my breast? I'm seriously struggling right now. The pain is real and it's bad enough to make me want to relatch my daughter (I won't, but I've contemplated it). I will definitely be trying an antihistamine tonight.

I'm terrified of this. Was she still nursing a lot? My one year old still nurses round the clock and nurses all night long.
I weaned my oldest at a little over 2, but by then he was only nursing morning and night and not a lot, so I never got engorged. My body just went along with it. I'm dreading this one ?
Let me know what you come up with!

Solmari: She had only been nursing 4-5 times in a 24 hour period for the last couple months because I went back to work, and most of that was at night. Day weaning was really easy and I would have a little engorgement but then she would nurse all night long and I would be fine. Now that she's completely weaned, it's brutal. I also never experienced this with my first, so it's all new to me. And on top of the pain, the left is significantly more engorged than the right so I'm walking around work totally noticeably lopsided. ?

You can also take a warm shower and massage your breast and see if they'll leak some for you so you can relieve the pressure without stimulating more production. GL.

Sorry, just got back to this. Yes, just rub it on your breasts

Don't apply straight essential oil onto your skin. You need a carrier oil such as olive, coconut, etc. some EO will burn your skin because it's so potent.
