Help! My sons ear is splitting where it meets his scalp. He has always had dry skin behind his ears and has eczema, but this is new and wasn't there Thursday evening when he had his bath. I am going to take him to urgent care when they open, but I'm just wondering if any of you have experienced this before?

Ouch that looks painful. Hopefully they have an ointment or something for it.

I used to get this when I was younger. I think they gave me a cream and t gel x

Dd1 started to get something similar when she was smaller but not as severe. I kept putting Aquaphor on it and it went away.

Oh yikes!! That looks so painful! My son gets dry skin behind there, but nothing that turned into an open wound.

I've googled it and it appears to likely be eczema related. I feel terrible. His skin is horribly sensitive and his pedi and his allergist both recommend not washing him every day because of it. Like I said, it wasn't there 36 hours ago. The skin was just dry and irritated looking. We moisturize him daily with eucerin or cerave, so it's not a neglect of his skin, but I hate that it hurts him.

Aww. Poor little guy.

Where do I get arnica cream, Nancy? His eczema has been doing better and then this. I'm wondering if he had a reaction to the gel the barber put in his hair Thursday.

Put cream! Dd had this happen one time.

It doesn't smell at all. It hurts when it's touched, but other than that, it's not bothering him.

Thanks!

Thanks, glowing. I'll definitely try that once it's closed!

I used to have this happen every so often when I was a kid. I never went to the doctor for it, antibiotic ointment always cleared it up. I don't remember it being especially painful, just annoying.

My son has eczema and sometimes the bottom of his ear starts getting pretty bad. The pedi gave me an ointment for it

This used to happen to my lo all the time, not as bad but we used a&d ointment and cleaned it really good at bath time

Thanks, ladies. It's closed up right now with the ointment and isn't bothering him at all. I appreciate all the tips!
