I had a second u/s showing something in the left Fallopian tube, indicating an ectopic. I have to get the methotrexate shot now and hope that it stops developing and risk tubal rupture and surgery.

I read something if they go up and never down under 100 it’s likely a molar pregnancy.

What did your dr say?

Hoping for answers. I came back from my trip to VT last week and my HCG has gone up in the 700’s. I repeated HCG today and will see my dr tomorrow. I’m just so confused. There was nothing on the US, so why are my numbers rising?! I’ve been having dark brown spotting for 7 days now and just now had bright red. I hope we can figure out what’s happening tomorrow.?

Thanks jess. I also brought up the possibility of something else causing a positive hcg in my blood, like cancer, and he felt that would be quite rare and that my ultrasound didn’t show any type of masses to be worried about. I’m going to Vermont this weekend with my family and am going to try to relax and take my mind off of everything. It’s been such a hard couple weeks.

I’m so sorry zez. It’s so hard.

I just got back from the dr and my hcg is now 119. We did a vaginal ultrasound and my uterus is clear as well as my tubes and ovaries. Dr seems to think it’s just so early that nothing is showing up and it’s just lingering. I have to do another blood test Wednesday. He said we should just monitor it and hopefully it’ll start to go down, otherwise I may need a d&c.

after 2 years of unexplained infertility and lot ofeds, injections,iui, our first fresh ivf gave my positive result

beta were 25,31,52 and I just started bleeding few days back

going back tomorrow for anther beta but I know im lossing this pregnancy

im trying to be so strong and focus on.the positive side

I got pregnant after 2 years, im healthy, I have everything I want in my life (except having a baby)

can't do anything but to wait for a healthy pregnancy next cycle

Thank you ladies. My dr did say he did not think ectopic because my numbers were so low, so that’s one thing off the list. Hopefully my most recent beta has gone down and I can move forward.

Expecting... As you know I've been thru a bunch of different situations in this crazy journey. One of my miscarriages was just like this. My betas were like 151, 161, 200, 181, 200... It was super weird. I was almost given methotrexate which is the injection to move along miscarriage but then I started to miscarry on my own and my levels finally dropped. You probably have fetal tissue remaining. Wirh ectopics usually they get very worried when betas are high and still going slowly because it means the embryo is growing which can cause rupture. I have not had an ectopic but my limited knowledge is from what my RE said so it may not be 100% right. You should start to miscarry the remaining tissue within a week and you will be fine and if you don't then you'll do thr D&c and put this behind you. Hugs.

I am sorry. I definitely didn't mean to freak you out if I did. That was just my super rare and crazy experience with very slow and low rising numbers. Ovarian pregnancy only happens in 0.15-3% of ectopic pregnancies. But something must have flagged for my doctor because of what the number was and how far along I should have been at the time. She sent me immediately for an ultrasound at the hospital because she couldn't get me in for a few days. The baby didn't have a heartbeat so all they could see was no uterine pregnancy and a mass in my right ovary. I have a doctor who probably takes a different approach than most. She knew how badly we wanted a family and this was our second pregnancy and second loss. She didn't want to remove my tube and ovary if she didn't have to. She always tries to stay away from surgeries that could make it more difficult or impossible to ttc if she can. But sometimes our bodies don't agree and doctors have to do what they need to do to protect us. I have no idea how but I was able to pass the baby naturally after the second round of medicine. It took almost 2 weeks for my numbers to drop but I started to miscarry a week and a half after we started the process. I didn't know something like that was even possible. I had no idea that ovarian cancer can give you a positive hpt. I like to share my story so people have the information. It's most likely not what happening but I wanted to be sure that they confirmed with ultrasound for you. I am so so sorry for your loss!

Thanks Angel. I’m sorry for your loss as well. It’s nice to have each other as support, it’s hard for other people to understand exactly what we go through. Everyone keeps telling me “it’s good you got pregnant” which is true, but doesn’t dismiss the feeling of loss and heartbreak.

Am so sorry you are going through this. I went through the same situation last month. My hcg was low and only made it to 58. They gave me 3 pills that I drank to help speed up the miscarriage but I still ended up having to do d&c due to left over pregnancy tissues and it was a plus cause my gun removed a polyp. He will do an ultrasound after he sees my next hcg results. He didn’t even mention the possibility of cancer! I’ve had a hsg of my uterus back in August that was clear and my ovaries seemed clear as well. This was all pre IVF work up.??

I would request an ultrasound to rule out ectopic. In 2013 I had an ovarian pregnancy in my right ovary. I was given a shot (can't remember what the medicine was) and my numbers kept rising. They did not know if it was a baby or cancer - because there was no heartbeat - until after a second round of medicine when my numbers finally started to drop. Make sure you ask about all your options. A d&c might sound like the best option but it isn't always.

I would’ve been around 4 weeks. I did take the pills last week and was bleeding all weekend, so I was surprised to hear that my numbers went up instead of down. I took another blood test today and my dr said if they continue to rise he suggests a d&c.

Short version...

So I started what I thought was my period Sep 27.

Starting IVF Oct 26, until I had a positive hpt.

Took a beta at dr’s Oct 2nd hcg=40

Following beta Oct 4th hcg=45

Dr told me this was not a viable pregnancy and said I can take pills to help move along the miscarriage.

Checked my levels Oct 10th hcg=62

Why isn’t my hcg going down now?

I’m seeing my dr in the morning, but was hoping for some insight. Will I have to get a d&c now?

After continuing to monitor my hcg levels, they have continued to slowly rise to 1,010. We then did a second u/s showing something in my left tube, indicating a likely ectopic. I’m now going to have a methotrexate shot administered.?
