Nope. Mine are 16 months and will pick up a few toys before they get distracted, take their dirty diapers to the trash can and put the silverware I hand them in the dishwasher and then hand it to me to put away when the dishwasher is done.

My son helps picks up to toys and hands them to us since he was 12 months. The other day he helped me pick his toys up and put them in the box.

I agree. Start them young. My dd is two and a half and is still learning but I’ve been teaching her to pick up since two. I should have started earlier. I’ve also been on her about manners. I don’t have to tell her to say please and thank you anymore she always does it on her own. I think starting things early is better.

No. I was on my son's behind about making messes when he was crawling lbs he's 3 now and cleans up behind himself so well without me having to say anything.

No way. The younger the better. Make it a game. Who can pick up the most stuff the fastest!! Or time her. My kids love being timed when doing things. She may be too young to be timed but always make cleaning up fun. Sing the clean up song and “help” her clean up!! That works well with my kid

Nope! Get them in the habit young so that way they dont mind as they get older .. My kids are 9,7,4 and they know they have to clean up their rooms after they are done in there they even make their own beds every morning.. Not the exact way I'd like them to be .. But all that matters is that they try..

I don't really expect her to help yet but more of observe the fact that mommy and daddy clean up toys and it's just something we all do together. And I'm hoping she'll catch on soon and start helping.

Currently she seems willing to put one or two things in the basket, then promptly take them back out. ?

Absolutely not. My son job was taking out the garbage at 14 months old lol I mean I lifted it in but he dragged it to the dumpster outside every day.

I believe responsibilities should be taught as young as possible. So when they grow up it's less of a "chore" and more of a "just a thing we do".

Its never too early to introduce the idea! But make sure your expectations of them completing the task are based around their age. So taking them to the toy box and handing them the toys to put into the box would be an age appropriate start and as their understanding builds they can pick the toys up and take them to the box etc.

Not too young! That's the best time because they are eager to help!
