peaceful parenting help please
My soon to be one year old throws tantrums over the smallest things. Like not being allowed in the kitchen. Or when i try to redirect her if she's doing something she shouldn't be doing (ex. Chasing the pets). It's extremely discouraging and frustrating. I feel like I'm not doing a good job.

I found that they understand more then you think at that age just keep positive and repeating the same things and explain why I found out this is the best way unfortunately this will continue... My 1 yr old started this and she's still doing it at 3...

Let her throw tantrums, SIT with her. When she is calmed down tell her what she CAN do (ex; We can pet the cat/dog *then show her how to pet* We can play with the cat/dog *then show her how to play appropriately with them) just do not leave her when she is showing you she is mad. Talk to her, let her know you recognize her feelings and let her get it out, then proceed to do above. Make sure you never focus on what she shouldn't/can't be doing and what she CAN do. It's easier for them to understand. I know it's hard because it can be very frustrating but she doesn't understand yet and needs you to be patient with her and to show her that she isn't alone. ❤

@picard i did what you suggested and so far it's been working. Thank you. It's seems she's always had such strong emotions and i don't always know how to handle them or help her through.
I certainly didn't want to resort to parenting like my mother did. Yelling. And i kept feeling like i was getting to that point which no one deserves. Especially someone who doesn't even understand what's going on it being said.
