I just don't understand my baby. I am having so much trouble reading her cues. I feel like every time she cries(if it's not food) I'm playing a guessing game. Shouldn't I know her signals by now? SO understands her better than I do. I'm losing my patience. Please tell me he cues will become more clear as time goes on.?? None of any of this makes sense anymore. I feel like I'm doing it wrong. My frustration is to the point where I just want to pass her off to SO and be left alone.

Deep breath. Itll be ok. I played guessing game with DD. I still do at points and shes 6 months. I just go through the check list..hungry, wet, cold, hot, sleepy, bored, pain.
It got so much easier though the more I relaxed myself. I let myself take breaks and take a long shower or bath while DH took care of DD.

Don't worry, it's hard being expected to know everything about a tiny stranger you just met not long ago. My default was to pop a boob in his mouth at every peep. Pretty much always solved it! Babies can't overeat from the breast, so don't worry about that. Another good option is babywearing- it'll help soothe baby and strengthen your bond.

She doesn't seem to like baby wearing too much. I think she's too little too face out but she hates facing in. She wants to see everything. It's annoying that SO seems like he can easily identify what she wants and I struggle with it. Don't get me wrong I'm happy he's in tune with our daughter but I don't understand how he reads her better than me, the one who birthed her. ? I feel like I can't do my job.

Don't think if it as your job - it's BOTH your jobs.
Sometimes I think it's easier for the person not attached at the hip to a child to get results or pick up on "the signs" because they are more patient and less stressed and haven't got to work it out 24/7.
The more frustrated you get the more the baby will sense it and almost deed of the frustration - I remember my mum tired once and irately walking my little kid sister and I took over and the cries stopped - her exhaustion and irritancy she could sense.
No one can predict what their baby will be like and they are all so different don't beat yourself up it's taking time or hard or draining. You aren't expected to be super mum and so many mothers I've heard say daddy is better with the little one at various stages. When he can take over and gets her mood just feel yes this is now time for you- thank him with a kiss and go do something you need to do or for yourself and then relax and start again. It must be a shock TJ the system as well having a dependent that needs you 24/7 in a way you have never been needed but just can't tell you for sure all the time what they need - we aren't mind readers and some babies are harder to read than others. You will get there , maybe not right away and maybe not in a year but you will and until then you have a good man backing you up. ?
