what would you say My baby is 4 days old and I love holder her and she is her happiest when SO or I…

what would you say

My baby is 4 days old and I love holder her and she is her happiest when SO or I are holding her close. My mother keeps telling me I need to let her learn to be by herself in her bassinet. I personally don't think she should be by herself at this age. It doesn't feel right to leave her alone. I always watch my baby's body language and knowing she needs a bottle before she ever cries and my mother says I need to let her cry for things, 'it's good for her'. I want to say something but don't know what to say to get her to leave me alone and let me be the parent I want to be.

Your baby is brand new. If you want to hold her, hold her and tell the naysayers to buzz off.

You can't have too many cuddles with a newborn. Ignore her, she is your baby.

She is so little!! Give her all the cuddles she needs. You're there to met her needs.

There is plenty of time in the future for them to be more independent and learn boundaries.

Trust your gut.

Your baby was inside a warm cozy home for the past 9 months. Listening to you talk and listening to your heartbeat. It's a shock to now be alone. Baby just wants to be held by mom and dad and feel their warmth.

Our parents are old school. Leave the baby to cry or they will be spoiled. It's foolishness.

I'm the exact same way with all of my babies. I barely put them down. I would just simply say to my mom. " Thank you for your advice but I'm a parent now and I'm going to do what I think is best. I would really appreciate it if you would just support me instead of trying to tell me what to do. I know you're here for me so if I need any advice I'll definitely ask you, mom" if she keeps it up then just tell her to blatantly knock it off!!!!!!

Pp I'm a firm believer in the 4th trimester. I have been since the beginning of my pregnancy. It's just irritating that she wants me to let her cry... Why let her cry if I don't have to! Why put her down if it makes her happy and keeps her feeling secure in this new world.

You can't spoil a baby!!!!!

Fallow your mama instincts, this is YOUR baby not hers......

She got her time to be a mom and do things her way...

This is your baby, YOUR way.

4 days old is not the time to do that... They just came out of a very tight, warm environment. They are still trying to adjust to this new world! I cuddled my son ALL the time and now At 11 months I'm lucky if I get him to sit still while holding him ?

Stand your ground now before it gets worse. People are always going to give you their unsolicited advice. Listen to it, take it into consideration, do your research, and then make an independent decision as a parent based on what you believe to be best for your child.

That goes for anything! Car seat safety, eating solids, feeding, sleeping, discipline, etc.

It sounds like you feel best holding your little one. I think modern research supports that. Standing your ground doesn't mean you have to be mean either. A simple "Thanks, mom, but as her mother, I feel more comfortable doing things like this." should do the trick.

If she keeps pushing, a firm "Again, thanks mom, but I'm adamant about this. There's no need to discuss it further."

She's your baby, do what feels right. You can't over-cuddle or spoil a newborn. They need the love and comfort ?❤

People that think that loving, hugging and sleeping with your children is spoiling them are completely wrong. It's the most natural thing to do. My daughter slept with me till the age of two, I hug and kiss her everyday and tell her Iove her. I have had her close to me ever since birth and guess what? She is perfectly happy and health. She sleeps in her own bed now which was never a problem to transit and she is very well educated and knows the boundaries I have set for her. Just because you spoil your child with love dosent mean you can't have boundaries as well, dosent have to be one or the other ☺️?

The best advice I can give you is to never take advice from other people about your baby. Lol ironic I know.

With my first my mom gave me plenty of unwanted advice, and eventually she got the hint when everything she suggested my answer was no I'm not doing that.

You can't spoil a baby with love.

I spent the first 2 weeks at home after my csection just holding and marvelling at my little boy. He's now 5 months old and seems to be just fine :)

Hold that baby until your arms ache momma!

I don't know where this whole idea came from, are people picturing us carrying them around when they're 20 because they just never figured out how to be away from us?

My answer would be shut up. My baby is fine and you can't spoil a baby. Esp if you are nursing. It can only help.
