Sentient beings.
At what point do you feel a person is a sentient being? Do you feel we are born as sentient beings or do we grow into one? You're opinions please.

Edit- more of a self awareness level

I had to google "sentient" ?
According to Google: sentient-able to perceive or feel things.
synonyms: (capable of) feeling, living, live; conscious, aware, responsive, reactive
Imo before birth on all of the above. I don't know how this is even a question honestly.

If you ask my MIL... A couple months after birth. ?
But I'm 22 weeks pregnant and I think she's already a sentiment being. She knows Daddy's voice, moves up to the top of my belly anytime he talks. ?

@bmr4g I'm talking more on a 'self awareness' level.

My earliest memory of being self aware was when I was 3 years old. I know that sounds extremely crazy. I remember the Easter Egg hunt I did on my grandparents farm. I don't have any recollection of anything else like that. Just from the time I walked out of the kitchen of my grandparents house until my papaw picked me up and sat me on the fence of our round pen. I don't know why, but I KNOW I thought to myself I'm going to remember this. And I have. Always for the rest of my life. I remember how it felt outside. I remember exactly what I was wearing. I even remember that my papaw hid an egg on the firewood pile that sat by our horse corral. I remember the condensation on the screen door and that the grass was still wet. I even remember hearing my papaw call me by my childhood nickname. "Woo" I remember every small detail about it. It is almost like I went back in time and relived that moment and made myself remember. I can't explain it. One day this got brought up in conversation between my mom and I. She didn't believe me. I told her exactly what happened and she was so taken back and and was actually kind of freaked out. There was nothing special about that day at all. I just remember being so self aware and conscious. The stuff that happened before and after I can't remember. It's like a video clip I can play in my head. I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about, Op. But I have so many questions that will probably never get answered about why I only remember that event.

My earliest memory I was about 1.5 years old. My mom was pregnant with my twin brothers and I remember thinking about how big she was getting and if she would ever be small again. Lol I remember going to the hospital with my dad when they were born and meeting them. I had a baby doll that I laid in my moms stomach in the hospital and seeing it was a lot smaller than my brothers.
As for when you become self aware, I think that would be different for everyone. People all think differently, so it just depends on the person. At a very young age I was a deep thinker. I remember being about 5 or 6 and just looking at myself in the mirror wondering why I was here and what the meaning of life was lol
