Preparing baby for new baby
Preparing baby for new baby
I'm due baby number 2 early November. Noah is 9 and a half months old atm, so obviously way too young to even know anything is 'up'. He will be barely 16 months old when this one arrives. When do they become old enough to 'know' that there's going to be another baby permanently? And how do you prepare such a young child for another baby? Obviously if he were older I could tell him, I mean I could tell him now but he'll just smile at me as usual ?

Bumping for you! I honestly have no clue...
Maybe as he nears to 16 months he'll somehow know? Maybe he will understand better?
Anyway, I hope you have a happy, healthy pregnancy :)

At that age i doubt he will understand he will just get used to having a sibling and itll just be normal for him. :)

My sister is currently going through this. Her first daughter was 17 months old when her second daughter was just born this past February. She understood there was a baby in mommy's tummy but after the baby was born she was acting out and throwing tantrums quite often. They're just used to having all eyes and attention on them at all times I think. It took time for all of them to get adjusted to the changes but now with the newest baby being 2 months they seem well adjusted and in a routine.
So just know it might be tough at first but your LO will adjust and begin to understand

My kids are 18 months apart. With my son, I kept telling him that his little baby sister is in my tummy and asked if he wanted to hug or kiss his sister and he would hug and kiss my belly and even started doing it on his own. When she was born he instantly kissed her and kept calling her baby RyRy (nickname for Rylee) and never acted out. He never went through a jealous phase until she started playing with his toys lol but they get along so great and love each other

W my older kids (17y,14y,&12y) I made sure to include them in everything. Belly to baby. Loves on the belly and saying share love w your brother. Then I the whole time I said let's throw the diaper away. Then when the baby came. I asked which big boy will get me a diaper, which big boy can throw the diaper away. Oh yah thank you so much for your help!!! Yah big brother rocks!!! (Really get excited and happy). Help them hold baby. While they do express how amazing they both are and how much baby is as cute as big sibling. Have them help the whole way. Even at bath time. Can you hold the towel while I wash baby? Get excited when they do. If they don't want to ask if they'll keep y'all company. Of they don't wanna help it's ok. Ask what mommas big boy/girl wants to do. Remind them always they'll always be your baby to. If someone leaves them out of a compliment, say like the store, include them yourself. Oh your baby is so adorable. You add thank you, just like big brother! Or yah baby got the cuteness from brother! They will really feel like this is my sibling and baby rocks like me! Lol my oldest loved telling ppl at 5 that his brothers are cute like him, momma said so. My middle son was the same way. Always take pics of them hugging or holding the other too. Kids love pics!! They will love pics more of hugging and holding each other instead of frowning. My boys did anyway. My boys love their baby sister. She obviously has a favorite tho. My youngest son and her are obsessed w each other. She's 9m old

Mine will be 14 months apart! I'm due early August. I'm clueless as to how to handle two that close in age. But also really excited!!
