I would be wringing my oh balls if he was encouraging my child to swear. When a child swears once by accident and doesn't get what it means I find it pretty funny but I completely understand where your coming from when she's saying it more regularly. I would tell her if she keeps saying that she can have time out or take her favourite toy as for oh I would be screwing, make out she called the nursery teachers d*** heads. . Something that will embarrass him and make him think twice xx

I've heard that if you ignore it they soon forget about it being funny etc, no personal experience as lo is only 6 months but that's what I've heard helped others. Though I would nip your ohs swearing in the bud, get a swearing jar or something x

He can't help himself it's absolute ridiculous, I keep telling him it's not funny and if she says it at nursery he can go in and explain why his daughter has a potty mouth lol. She does it more when her dad is home.

It is funny sometimes but I never let her see me laugh, I've took things off her and made her sat on the stairs it makes no odds. I've threatened her with putting soap in her mouth (I'd never do it BTW) as that's what I would of got as a child and it stops her for a few sentences and then starts again. Xx

Just ignore it. As frustrating as it can be the best thing to do is don't make a big deal of it and change the conversation so they forget what they are on about. The only thing is both parents need to enforce it to work. Good luck though

I completely understand why people say ignore it. I was told to ignore my eldest daughter when she was a toddler as she kept saying ' s*** '. I ignored it completely for a long time but she just carried on until one day I told her off and said don't say s*** say sugar...she never said it again lol.

I wouldn't ignore her, I'd give her a really big telling off and make sure she knows if she does it again then she'll get punished, toy took off her or something. At 3 n a half she's def old enough to know not to do it if she gets told off but if your oh is encouraging it by laughing then that's where the real problem lies. He can help himself, it seems really childish of him to find it so funny that he's actually laughing at it. My son's swore once, repeated what my neighbour was saying and said "get to f**k" and I was gutted, gave him a telling off and he's never done it again. It's horrible hearing kids swear but she's obviously learning it from somewhere x

I would ignore it. If she knows it's something bad to say then she will use it when she misbehaves or in retaliation.

Just ignore & find something else she does absolutely hilarious for a while.

If she swears just distract or look at her blankly like you have no idea what she's saying - no reaction xx

We always told DD that princesses don't use 'naughty words'. Problem solved! She even tells me off when I accidentally swear eg when I stubbed my poor toe this morning! My face word is douchebag when around them. After swearing at someone in rage one day and DS copying it for weeks ? xx

Have faith my step dad was swear word after every word but my sister knew not to copy and hasn't xx
