That happened to us when we first started. That's why it took so long to get used to it. Practice makes perfect ;) seriously tho. Just give your Lo the 1st foods for a while. I think it took a month to two but only because I fed him really spread out and not everyday because he was still young.
Depends how you want to feed!
My daughter, 7 months old yeaterday, eats spaghetti bolognese; full halves of banana this week, she often has 1/4 avo in a wedge she just chomps on. I cut carrots in sticks and steam them super soft with green beans. She holds everything herself & self feeds.
Steamed sweet potato chunks etc.
We do baby led weaning though; not mashed foods.
I would try the finger foods if that's what you want and see how she does with them.
I prepare separately for him, no spices, no added sugar, no salt. We are 7 month now and started stage 2 food, still blended fruit + veggies, introduced salmon this week.
I only buy organic for him, so I prepare bunch and freeze it for him, so it can last for a month, plus I don't need to worry what to give him, I just de-freeze and that is it.
I give my baby girl anything I eat. The other day I even made carne guisada y arroz blanco (beef stew and white rice) I blended it up for her and she loved it . She eats w.e but I just make sure not to give her anything that has whole milk in it. If I make myself cream of wheat with milk I just make sure I make hers separate with her water or breastmilk
I try to give him my food but one time I gave him a pineapple off of my pizza and he threw up. My dh says because it had sauce and was spicy. So now I feel bad. And now I'd rather just make his side food plain.
Crockpot cooking baby food sounds like a great idea!
Parker eats whatever we eat. Tonight she had pasta salad that had some seasoning, diced fresh bell pepper, onion, and basil. Last night we had baked chicken so I just shredded some for her (no skin) and pieces of steamed broccoli. For harder veggies, I cook them slighty longer so they are easy for her to eat. And She LOVES strawberries! We did baby led weaning and skipped purees. If you are easing into solid foods you can start with steamed sweet potato strips, or avocado slices.
When we started our other kids on table food I would make a bunch ahead, like me at a how they liked , veggies and potatoes or whatever make a small plate but I put it in a container in the freezer. So I had a bunch of ready made meals for her all cooked. Just take out and warm up. And I will do that again for days when its just me and her at home. But like this summer I won't worry about it because I'll have my other 3 kids home all day so I'll be making a lot of food for them too. I'll just give her what we eat then. For now macey just eats purees with oatmeal in them. And I give her bites off my plate here and there.
