Mil

Does anyone get a lot of help from their mil? Does it work? I'm thinking about asking my mil to come stay with us for a while so I can have some help. We get along but I'm worried she'll just spoil my LO and if it'll be uncomfortable living under the same roof when her son and I are having trouble understanding each other right now.

My mil is the best. I would let her live with us, if she didn't live 6 miles away. She always does things my way even when she doesn't agree. I would take her help but let her know right away u want things ur way.

The same as ash. I live next door to my mother in law and it's honestly amazing. I was Leary but she always respects my parenting even if she does not agree. It's nice to have someone there more for adult interaction for me. My husband works a ton and if I get bored or lonely I walk to her house and have a coffee and get a little 'break' and I love that my kids are growing up so close to their grandparents.

It would never work for me. We get along, but we do things very differently.

Nope, no help. My MIL is a piece of work, no way would it work for us.

Maybe talk to her about things and lay it all out there. Ask her if she would be willing to respect and practice your decisions as mom and go from there.

No way I could handle living with my MIL she would drive me crazy!! Plus when I tell her, Charli doesn't need a blanket, or don't put that baby powder on after every diaper change, or don't feed her more than X number of oz, and she doesn't ever listen to me! She babysat for a friend of mine who followed a very strick schedule (if he was off by 10 minutes his nights were awful, as well as the next day) and I sent her the schedule in a text so she could look back in reference to it, and to you think she followed it at all?! Nope, no respect for anyone else's parenting! Seeing her more than once a week is plenty for me. I would be fine if she lived further away, and we went out for a weekend, but she lives 20 minutes away and is always out! It drives me crazy

Idk.. My mil is sort of a free bird right now. She's retired, she lives with her boyfriend because she sold her house (her house was bigger and nicer, now we don't fit in his house), her mom just passed in the last couple of months, she thinks her dad will soon pass too, and she has to travel to see all of us. But I know she'd do anything for my son. I like having her around, I'm just worried she'll be around ALL the time because she'll be in my house haha and I don't have a guest room. But I was thinking if I really need to baby could come back in our room and we can get her a bed. I guess I just need to decide which is more important to me right now. Help vs. No help

Whenever I need someone to watch Piper, I text up my MIL and if she can't then most likely my SIL will. But my husband also has a bunch of cousins that would be more than willing to watch her for a few hours. My MIL also did all of our laundry after Piper was born. I was going to but our baby came early and I didn't have the chance to do any cleaning or anything! So my mom, sister and in laws cleaned up our trailer while we were in the hospital! ??

I would die without my mil. She is so helpful even though she works 2 jobs. Every other weekend she takes my oldest for the weekend and she told me once Melanie is 6 months she will be taking her too. Also since my husband works so much if lets say I need to go do something she will come watch the girls or just stop by and watch and play with them while I clean. My whole in-law family is helpful though. My husbands grandparents watch my girls for me so I don't have to worry when I'm at work. I would be lost without them lol. I feel bad for people who don't have that great of in laws because it makes it much more easier. Also I don't talk to but 3 people in my family so if I didn't have them I'd be doing a lot and really stressed.
