Being induced at 37 weeks
Today has been a crazy day for me and it's not even noon yet. I've been diagnosed with gestational hypertension. Tested twice for preeclampsia and negative. But they're concerned it'll get worse so they want to play it safe and induce me. I don't know how I feel about it. Obviously I'm thinking yes, safer is better. But I can't help but feel more stressed. I feel like I've been hit in the face with a ton of bricks! I mean holy moly! My baby will be here April 29th instead of May 19th. Is this happening to anyone else?
Thank you:)
I'm able to keep it low but it'll still be there. Like, today it took a whole day of me resting to feel okay again. And with that being said I'm taking a relaxing bath now haha
But I do plan on getting the epidural. I wasn't planning on getting it too early as I still wanted to be able to move around but I've been reading it's best to get a form of pain meds when they give you the pitocin because the contractions can come fast and hard. So I don't know what to do about that. Obviously the drs will know but I like to be somewhat informed before.
Just thought I'd say I've had natural & induced labors and they weren't much different with pain levels. If anything, I prefer the inductions because you know that things will keep progressing
If you can keep your anxiety in check or get the epidural, you should be fine. Its fear that complicates labor most of the time
You ladies are so sweet! Thank you so much. I appreciate it. And it helps a lot.
Many people are telling me it's the way I eat, which I really didn't think was a problem. I have been eating out more lately but that's because while I'm out running errands and such I get really hungry. But I still eat my salads and have tons of fruit. Sometimes I think the people closet to us to mean to hurt us but they end up doing so. My husband has the freezer stocked with frozen foods foods for when I'm too tired/lazy to cook. He says, it's better than not eating which I thought he was right until people starting linking this high blood pressure to the way I eat. ? Now, I just feel like it's my fault. Pregnancy just got a hell of a lot harder in a blink of an eye.
I rested all day today and read up on inducing. Should be putting the final touches in the nursery tomorrow and have it completely done by the end of this weekend so that'll make me feel better. Oh! Ha! And get our bags packed for the hospital. I think I'll be able to relax a lot more once those "important things" are done. Then I'll just have my house to clean ?
I went for my 36w check up and I had high BP. ?
My urine protein was negative.
I don't think I have preeclampsia.
He wants to see me today again to f/u on the BP. It was high out of no where. Throughout my whole pregnancy I've had normal BP. I'm hoping today it's normal. Good luck mama
I'm also being induced at 37 weeks I'm due may 9th but they want the baby around april 18th. I'm beyond terrified and I don't know what to expect. I have preeclampsia and my BP is 150/98 so I've been on bed rest since 30 weeks it sucks but it's all worth it for a healthy baby! Good luck girl
My dr just told me I might have to be induced at 37 weeks also because my blood pressure has been high and is still climbing. Ive also had lab and urine tests done and no I preeclampsia for me either. I had high blood pressure with my first but wasn't induced until 39 weeks with her.
Thank you for sharing ladies. It always helps when you know you're not the only one.
I woke up from my nap feeling better and then got an hour massage. I'm still a little shaken up but just trying to accept it so I can move on and feel better. I've had problems with anxiety for years so I know that's why I'm just taking this even harder. I just feel like it all hit me at once because I haven't been feeling like this (being pregnant and having a little one) is real. I'm nervous haha I just can't believe I'll see, hear, touch my little guy on April 29th or 30th. Hoping 29th and I won't be in labor for a day ?
I don't know why it's hitting me so hard. Hopefully after a nap I'll feel better. And maybe reading up on inductions because I don't know anything besides I've heard it's painful because it's technically unnatural.
That's why I wanted to comment, many women who have gone into labor naturally before have a belief that induced labors are harder and more painful - I think they're the same. I have only used the gas for pain relief for both types of labors with the same outcome.
Don't let the horror stories get to you :)
