5 months postpartum NO weight loss

I'm wondering if anyone is in the same boat... I gained about 50lbs during my pregnancy and I am still exclusively breastfeeding. I have yet to lose a single pound and I'm very upset about it... anyone have any advice or experience because I feel hopeless.

Oh my goodness I'm the exact same. I haven't lost at all and I'm struggling so bad. I'm exclusively breastfeeding so I think that has a factor. I still feel like I'm feeding for two...

I'm so hungry all the time. I wake up every day saying I'm going to eat healthy and diet but my portions are so big. I never feel full.

It's mostly calories in and out. Those who lose fast is because it takes them more effort to eat more rather than less. With a few exceptions, hormone imbalance and water retention being some of them. Just eating less sugar would help a lot. The good news is, you crave less sugar if you start removing it from a diet. then eat less fat, then try fewer carbs if nothing else helps. More lean proteins and veggies. Not judging anyone. I wish I weigh about 10 more lbs, in muscle of course. But it's hard when food isn't that tasty and tasty takes too much time to make. And veggies have too few calories to gain eating just that.

Same girl! I was 140 pre-baby and I gained 70lbs while pregnant (I also quit smoking in my first trimester) and I’ve only lost 20lbs in 5 months, and that was all lost by 6 weeks pp. I breastfed for 3 months and don’t eat poorly - but it’s just not budging. I’ve been running 4 nights a week on my treadmill while baby naps and still haven’t lost a pound. I’m going to stick with it, something has to give.

Same, gained 60 and have only lost half and am ebf. Many women don’t lose the rest until they stop. It sucks but it’s a sacrifice I’m willing to make. I hate my body and none of my old clothes fit and I feel fatter than while I was prego. I got a jogging stroller for Xmas so hopefully that helps. I want to really try to lose after I stop nursing but have been afraid to diet/exercise and lose supply - plus so busy!!

I gained 35 lbs during my pregnancy. I was back to pre pregnancy weight by the end of the first month and I wasn't breastfeeding. I ate pretty unhealthy because I had no time to prepare food so I have no idea how I did it. Sadly I have gained back 30 lbs since which probably had something to do with thanksgiving leftovers and Christmas goodies. I'm trying soooo much harder to lose weight now than I did when I first came home and it's just not budging. I keep wanting to go back to low carb but I keep messing up ?

I’m sure you still look beautiful!?
I feel like my belly band helped me so much and drinking a lot of water. I try to have a high lean protein diet n veggies. That helps too.

Hmm I wonder if pumping is different? I lost all the weight (almost 40 lbs) except for the stubborn last 10 lbs that I gained before I got pregnant lol. I feel like I'm constantly starving too. I'm taking advantage of havi t a high metabolism for once in my life. It felt like before I even looked at food I would gain weight. I'm sorry you're not seeing any weight loss and i hope you're just one of them women where it's the opposite to where you lose weight when you stop.

Even after I delivered I lost nothing. I am still 50lbs above my prepregnacy weight. Even if I lost 10 lbs I would be happier than I am now. I don't know why I can't lose the weight. I just think it's odd that I havint lost a single pound.

What’s your routine and strategy? Some weight might just fall off (the weight of the baby and placenta and extra fluid) but body fat takes time and work to get rid of. You probably lost about 10lbs out of the hospital; after that, unfortunately, it’s diet and exercise.

Yepp! I lost some weight immediately. But I have the last 10 pounds, and it's not budging. I am ebf, so I can't say I've done anything at all to help myself lose any weight lol. I need to, but I keep using breastfeeding as my excuse to eat the cookie after dinner and not eat clean and healthy. I don't eat alot... just snack through the day. But all junk.
Your not alone mama! I feel like our bodies will tell us when they're ready to drop the reserved weight!

There is a hormone when you breastfeed that makes your body retain fat so if you're eating lots of sweets and fatty foods you are going to retain them without burning them just my input I know that's my case LOL so I just stopped eating sweets

Literally going through this. I ebf and only lost 15 pounds after birth within the first two weeks and now I haven’t lost not one pound since no matter what I do. I’m trying not to be too hard on myself since my body is feeding another person and just wait t out until I’m done breastfeeding but some days i just don’t feel like myself since I looked completely different before I got pregnant. I didn’t even have this hard of a time with losing weight after my first child.

I gained about ~21 lbs during the pregnancy, lost 11 after the birth of the baby. I’ve been holding onto the extra 10 lbs since then.. it sucks since I want to lose it too, but at the same time I’m eating whatever I want, whenever I want and I’m not gaining, so I guess it’s fair. I’m also breastfeeding.

I lost everything and then some, it’ll come off for you once you find a routine that works!
I do intermittent fasting everyday. You eat in an 8 hour period and fast for 16 hours straight. I do 12-8pm then fast over night. It puts your body into a fat burning mode and I saw results QUICK! So when you’re fasting you can only have liquids with no sugar. I do water and coffee with a tiny bit of Truvia sweetener (technically it’s not sugar but idk if that’s considered cheating lol). Aside from intermittent fasting I go on power walks with the baby a few times per week, no crazy workouts. And I try to make it a point to stay away from carbs and sugar, but I’m not too hard on myself if I give in.

My doctor told me some women just don’t lose weight while breastfeeding but when they’re done they lose it. So that’s what I’m holding on to since I can’t lose these 20 pounds for nothing! ?
