Mature placenta?

36 week appointment today and finally met my OB. He had a quick scan of bubs and said that my placenta was mature or maturing? I have GD and had a few scans because my LO is measuring just below average... he also tried telling me that I had to watch for high BP even though it was 120/70. I have to get another scan in 2 weeks to check again and if he hasn't grown enough, they'll induce me. I'm a FTM and just wondering if anyone has a bit more info or has any advice?
