I plan on trying to breastfeed this baby once it gets here, but I've got a question I can't seem to find the answer to. Just wondering if any of you former breastfeeding mommas have advice as I would like to do it as long as possible and my last experience didn't go well. With my daughter I found the whole process to be extremely messy. She never would latch and I ended up using a nipple shield. Well usually during the feeding the nipple shield would cause her to choke from the fast flow when I let down or the shield would sometimes fall off and get us both soaked. Also, I remember my other breast would be pouring milk at the same time. I would wear a bra and put one of those shield things in it to catch the milk but it would usually overflow as well before she was done. Is there a way to solve this problem? Haha. It sounds silly but I'm just wanting to be as prepared as possible and I've got a feeling I'm going to end up giving up if it doesn't go smoothly. I ended up trying to pump exclusively with my daughter because of the choking she was having and my body didn't respond to the pump well and my supply ran out. I'm just scared I'm going to repeat that whole experience. I see women breastfeed in public all the time just using one of those breastfeeding covers and I have no idea how they make it look so easy. With my daughter I pretty much had to be naked to feed her lol. I'm hoping the next baby will latch, so it'll solve part of the problem, but who knows what's going to happen. I'm not sure if I'm just hard to latch on to or what. ?
