Normal behaviour for a 6 year old?

We went to see mil today and she had our nephew (3) and niece (6) for a sleep over. Our niece said to mil that she wants to give our boys gifts so they like her. We only see them maybe 3 or 4 times a year so they are pretty much strangers to our boys.
