Sore nipples

For the last couple of days my nipples have been so sore after feeding my son.. he's 5 1/2 months. Nursing has gone pretty well for us. And lately he seems to be eating more and frequently and it's leaving my nipples so sore ? I cannot take the pain I'm really considering on quitting. Could I be producing less milk and that's why he keeps coming form more? Anything I can put on my nipples? ? thank you any advice and info is appreciated.
