All I can say is good luck. Even with a co my ex screwed up our Christmas plan. We split holidays. He got them Christmas morning this year because I did last (which also really Put me in a slump even though I knew it was fair), and I was supposed to get them at 12-1230 ... Long story short didn't get them until 345.

We split the week in half and then follow the regular schedule for holidays. That way it's not as much back/forth on holidays (which are supposed to be fun, not stressful). My favorite joint custody schedules are week on/week off and 2,2,3s.

I would hate splitting every holiday in half so if we were to make a schedule, I would ask that transitions be *before * the holiday itself. Like:

Father's day :whole weekend always dad

Mother's day :whole weekend always mom

Halloween : parent 1 - > 12p the 30th to 12p the 31st (so possibly they could take the kids trick or treating) and then parent 2, 12p 31st to whatever regular schedule.

Thanksgiving : 12p - 12p the following day

Christmas : 12p the 24th to 12p the 26th

New years eve : 12p to 12p the 1st

Child's birthday : noon to noon the next day

Parents birthday : noon to noon the next day (or whole weekend if it falls on a weekend)

Basically everything in order to make sure transitions are easy and stress free, and don't interfere with sleeping in or travel plans.

I would follow your states suggested holiday parent time if you are in the U.S it's clear cut but follow it to a tee or fit gets to confusing.

How old is your kid/s? I think that has a lot to account for in establishing holiday schedules because I've found its easy to try to schedule time around their breaks.

For Christmas this year I got Christmas eve and Christmas morning, he got Christmas afternoon and Boxing day. Next year we switch, and I believe we're switching every other major holiday.

Even tho my sons dad isn't the best, he at least make our Co parenting work. Since we came to an agreement, were trying to stay out of court. But on holidays, at first we decided to split them. At first, it was supposed to be on one holiday he gets my son, and I'll get him on the next. But since Xmas was a bit easier, we just decided to have my son spend Xmas with me for half of the day, and his dad will get him the other half.

I usually have my son on most holidays (including Father's Day) unless it falls on his weekend. I have him thanksgiving and share Christmas, but this year I let him go with his dad. I'm not sure I'll do it again, I cried lol

Me and my ex do not get along so congrats on being able to talk it out.

I keep them Xmas eve and Xmas morning then he gets them from my parents house in the afternoon to bring them to his parents and they will be there for a few days.

I'll keep them New Years since he probably wants to drink lol.

My parents divorced and my brother and I did:

Christmas Eve and morning with mom

Christmas Day from noon til 26th with dad

Alternating holidays for everything else. Mom got Easter, thanksgiving on odd years, 4th of July and New Years on even. Dad had the opposite so they each got half of the holidays every year and switched years.

We alternate major holidays

So this year he has Christmas - we have he Christmas Eve. It will switch next year.

Same thing happens with every holiday.

We trade off even and odd years. But my ex is an a**hole and almost impossible to work with on anything.

We split the holiday in half. I get my son until about 5pm on a holiday and he gets him from 5pm and for a few days after. For his birthday we have done something together. Not sure about his birthday this year.
