Help My 20 month old has mastered climbing out of his crib and sneaks into bed with me.

I would turn on the tv and put cartoons for my son so he would be able to stay.. you need to enforce the no getting out of the crib.. or else he's just going to keep doing it

If he's climbing out it might be time to move him into a toddler bed so that he doesn't get hurt.

We moved my son into one around this age and put a baby gate in his doorway. He got used to it after about a week and would go to bed once in his room.

Don't count on my advice though, he's had me camping on the couch for 2 months now because he won't sleep in his room. Good luck.

I just replied on another post about getting a toddler to sleep in their own room in a bed because they are a climber.

Maybe time for a toddler bed so that there isn't the risk of falling from the top of the crib? I know he would be able to get up and out of bed a lot easier but consistently putting them back does work, it can be rough for a while but they get the hang of it, so it's worst persevering in my opinion.

I'd also suggest a gate on his bedroom door so he can't go wondering if he gets up, I also found the gate meant I had to get up in the night and resettle them, which helped with consistency.

My eldest didn't have a gate and she used to sneak into our bed so we were all uncomfortable but would let her be just because it was easier. Sticking with getting them to sleep in their own beds paid off for me, I like my peaceful evenings too, I'd go crazy without that time to wind down!

We're going to switch him to a toddler bed as soon as we can get the money to buy him one. I guess I'll just have to keep putting him back in there. The gate is a good idea I'll try that tonight. How long would it take you guys to finally get them to sleep? I always give in because it feels never ending ?

Just switched my almost 2 year old. Talked up the "big boy bed" for about a week before we got it, let him pick out the sheets/blankets, baby gate at the door. For the first week either husband or I laid with him until he fell asleep, then we progressively got farther and farther away until we didn't have to be in his room at all for him to fall asleep.

It didn't take too long, it's kinda like a battle of wills. If you stick to it it will definitely be worth it. It got easier each night and after a few rough nights they got the hang of it.

Hopefully we can get him his new bed this weekend! Guess he'll sleep in my bed until then and the Monday its on ?? thanks for the help!
