Baby is now 2 weeks old . How long does the cluster feeding/feeding on demand last ? I know they say you can't overfeed a breastfed baby but she is now eating about every 1.5 hrs, when week one it was every 3 hrs . Is this a forever thing ? I love breastfeeding but I am now getting a lil stressed .

Sorry to say but you have a long way to go! The first big growth spurts are at 3 weeks and 6 weeks and you’ll feel like all you do is nurse. Babies usually nurse every half hour while in a growth spurt.

Breastfeeding is a big commitment but trust me it’s worth it. Take it one day at a time and tell yourself this doesn’t last forever. I breastfed my daughter for 2.5 years and I miss the days when I sat on the couch feeding her. Now she’s 3.5 very wild, talks nonstop, and hates cuddling. It goes so fast.

You should always feed in demand, scheduled feedings aren't healthy but they will eventually be more spaced out and predictable. Cluster feeding on the other hand will happen either the week before or the week of a growth spurt. It's rough but by 2-3 months it starts getting easier and then after the 3 month growth spurt I've found it to be fairly smooth. My dd will be 7 months next week and were just now coming out of the 6 month growth spurt and it wasn't as rough as the earlier ones at all. The best advice I can offer is don't count the days and just take it one day at a time and one feeding at a time, looking at a whole year from the beginning when it's hardest is overwhelming and it seems like an eternity but the time will fly by.

If you chose breastfeeding, your basically feeding on demand until you stop. But by 6 months when they start eating foods the amount of breast milk they drink will decrease as you can also give them a bit of water for hydration. They will still need breast milk or formula until 1 year, then their stomachs able to digest cows milk.
