Visitors

Idk if it's just me or if I sound rude but I really don't want visitors constantly. My baby is only a week old and I'm exhausted..my family hasn't been to bad with it but my boyfriends mom constantly wants to come over. It annoys me because she saw me literally twice thru out the pregnancy and only stayed at my baby shower for ten mins. Now she wants to come over all the time. I just wanna be alone. And I'm breast feeding so when I have to feed him I really don't wanna whip my boobs out in front of her and whoever she brings. That's the other thing, she never comes alone. I just wanna spend these days by myself and don't want my baby passed around to different people like that already. Anyone else feel this way??

I haven't had my baby yet, but I know I will feel this way too. I will want some privacy and time for us to bond as a family. I feel nervous about my baby being passed around to a lot of people.

Yes yes yes. And I agree about visitors it's a special time and they def can invade your space. I will say however with being number 3 I do whip out the boob lol because if your here this is my space and I'm not going to make myself inconvenienced because you are here to see my baby who is hungry lol

If they are uninvited or unwanted guests then I have no problem in leaving the room going upstairs n feeding they can just sit there on their lonesome all they want! I remember breastfeeding for the first time was so exhausting and baby would be on boob for hours sometimes so let them sit there haha

Don't feel bad telling people no! And if they come without even asking than... RUDE! Ha. Can your boyfriend help diffuse this situation at all? He's your best bet to get this under control. And bringing uninvited guests is even more RUDE lol

Agree! I am fine with the women coming over (happened just once) because they know the drill. They start helping around the house and holding baby. My brother-in-law comes over with his gf, his 8yr old, and her 9 & 14 yr old. He said he'd be here at 4, arrives at 6pm and leaves around 10pm! Their kids plus my 6 & 3 yr old was like a kid party. He drank with my hubby and we didn't get the kids to bed until 10:30! I was so mad ? I rarely get mad at my husband (like once a year!), so this definitely made the list. It made me cry because i was so mad.

Yeah I really want this time to myself. My boyfriend takes it as being rude but it's just how I feel. My baby's only a week old and like I said I'm exhausted and not in the mood to deal with people.

@tryinfor2 yeah I'm a ftm so it's definitely a lot to get used to and pretty exhausting. Especially since sometimes it can take a few minutes to get him to latch, so I definitely can't interrupt him when he's feeding.

Yep, I'm already a pretty introverted person and don't like a lot of visitors anyway, so I especially know that once baby gets here I'm going to be driven mad by everyone insisting on coming to see her! They act like it's about them and their convenience ? like um, no, it's about me, my SO, and OUR baby

It's not rude, what's rude is your mother in law. Especially to bring people with her. With my first son I didn't stand up for myself and it ruined those first few weeks. Your body is healing and you're supposed to be bonding with this new human and getting into a routine. This time around I put my foot down, baby is now 3 weeks old and I've allowed visitors over twice. You don't get this time back and your health, including your mental health, is worth it. Don't feel bad saying no.

I just disappear up to my room and nurse in peace. But I don't really have a bunch of people trying to come over. My husband has no family here. I just have my brother and his wife, my cousin and her husband and son, and my grandpa and his wife. My parents will fly out to visit sometime after baby arrives.

My biggest issue is my pain in the ass step son. I don't want him anywhere near me or my daughters. He lives a few hours away, so hopefully my husband will be respectful and give me a good amount of peaceful recovery time before I have to deal with his bull s*** .

I'm the same way. I want the time to myself and my family. Nothing wrong with saying it's not a good day for a visit!

I'm getting induced tomorrow and this is my biggest source of anxiety. I hate having too many people around me and all I want is time alone with my husband and baby when we come home and my family has already ignored thy and insist that they will be coming over too see the baby.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that feels this way! I need to start just saying no. My boyfriend just thinks I'm being so rude, wish he understood it like y'all do. She hasn't showed up without letting us know (thank god cause that'd be a whole different story lol) but she will text him saying "hey I wanna come see my little man when's a good time" and I just wanna say, not today and he's not your little man he's mine. Lol ? I know everyone's excited but it really irritates me for people to call him theirs.
