Zika
Hello ladies. So i live in Texas and my Dr sent me to go test for Zika. He said I would have to go once every trimester. Have any of you been advised to test or is it because of the region I live in?
I would definitely mention it to your doctor if you have traveled to Mexico.
Shallon...I guess it depends on the region. When i went to the exam they asked me if i had traveled outside the US and even asked what other parts of texas i had traveled to.
Sara i worry about everything too. Im 40 and having my second child. My daughter will be 16 when this little one gets here.
I went today to get tested and it was simple. They did a blood draw and urine test. They did advise us on using protection throughout pregnancy because it is transmitted sexually if my partner were to have it.
I just got back from south America and had to get tested. My test came back negative, but we'll keep monitoring for any changes just in case.
My husband needs to get tested too, otherwise we need to use protection/not have sex until the end of the pregnancy.
I am glad they are being super aware and making sure to test you along the way. That way you know for sure everything is okay.
Test is just a simple and quick blood draw, BTW.
I’m in the valley near Fresno, CA and thankfully it’s not a problem where I am. There are however posters about it all over the naval hospital I get medical treatment at. Because it can be sexually transmitted I am a little concerned as my husband has at least theee detachments between now and when I’m due and some to areas where Zika is a problem. It’s something I’ll be discussing with my ob when he’s traveling to affected parts of the country.
I'm also in Texas and my doctor said it depends where you live. I'm in Austin and no where close has had a Zika outbreak. I was told just to wear bug spray when out by water.
