It's devastating, I can not even begin to understand the devastation and heartbreak these parents are faced with. Surely if life support is withdrawn then where on earth is the harm in him being allowed to be in a place with his parents that is going to be comfortable and they can go through this awful procedure in the privacy and comfort of their own home, they deserve this much at least, Charlie deserves it......??
Can't believe they won't even let him home.. they have even said they will pray privately for the ventilator etc to go home with him. Wrong on so many levels!
I'm not sure he'd even makes home, the condition he's in. I think that's why they are not allowing to take him home. I'd rather my child dies in hospital than in the car.
He would be taken in an ambulance and everything would go with him! He wouldn't just be put in a car! They have spent nearly his whole life in that hospital and were given the choice originally so now they should be aloud to take him home to pass away where he belonged!
They even asked to take him to a hospice which has been rejected. When they were first asked if this is the way things went where would they want him to pass they said they wanted to take him home and it was granted.. until now. They won't even give them to the weekend so family
And friends can say goodbye.. I think the way they have been treated is despicable!
Again, heartless as it sounds, the dr's have to look from the bigger picture side of things. How can you 'waste' a valuable ambulance and resources on a child who is going to die and deny it to other child (children) that might be in desperate need of it at that particular time? If I was a parent, I'd fight tooth and nail for my child. As bystander I'm 100% behind hospital.
I've just watched it and my heart breaks for them. The only time I brought my ds home was in his coffin. He spent a night in the coffin with us, by the Xmas tree, in his crib, I was desperate to bring him home and know I needed to for closure like they do. I wish I could grant their wishes. My loss is nothing compared to theirs. Likelihood is he wouldn't survive the journey, likelihood they wouldn't be able to fulfil their dreams of bathing him, cuddling him on their sofa etc but surely they should be allowed to try? Charlie wouldn't need to feel any pain they have nurses who would give their time for free to help and be there ?
I heard they won't let him home because there have been death threats against the people caring for him so they can't guarantee the safety of their staff ? such a sad situation

End of life care for adults is bad enough, a child not being allowed home the once he will ever be able to seems so cruel.
