Does she understand what Christmas is about? Ask her to give it up for a new baby that's just been born Or say Santa is coming to bring you presents cause you've been so good but he wants to leave with your dummy because he can see what a big girl you are now.

Mia started to do that at about a year and a half, I started reducing the time she had it. Started with straight after naps, not getting it until she was in bed, then cut it out for naps and then within days it was gone completely and we haven't looked back :) I would start maybe reducing the time she has it and keep her distracted, we used to tell Mia she was a big girl and didn't need one and it worked great for us xx

Ok from tomorrow I'm gonna try and only let her have it for naps and bed time ? wish me luck lol it's attached to her x

Good luck :) honestly Mia was attached to hers to I was amazed how easy she gave it up. Lots of distractions and plenty of praise when she doesn't have it :) xo

We lost it yesterday and she wouldn't stop asking and moaning and kept telling me to look in the kitchen and I kept saying I have it's not there and she just kept saying kitchen! Broke my heart!! Oh came home and found two upstairs she was so happy!!! I just can't bare the thought of her being really upset cos I won't give her something that comforts her it's just heartbreaking to watch. I think it's ok when they fully understand that there too old ect... but to me she's still my little baby who doesn't understand why I'm being mean ? wrapped around her finger lol

Hun I was the exact same lol I hated the thought of her crying for it and the first day or 2 she did ask for it and was looking everywhere but as soon as I got her distracted with something she forgot all about it, during those 2 days was worse than bed time to be honest. It is really hard on us having to be mean isn't it, I don't think daddy's think they way we do when it comes to these things lol but even if u just reduce one period of time this week, move onto another period of time next week and so on, just see how things go and if u don't think she's ready u can always try again in a few weeks :) xx

It makes me feel sick thinking about it ? I don't think I'm ready lol I'm actually welling up thinking about it!!! Completely off the subject but I think I need help with myself and how I'm feeling about myself and stuff in my head before I can cope with going through something as simple as this cos I think the guilt is gonna eat me alive and make me give in! :( xx

Aww Hun u know what the best thing to do is, give urself time to think about it until u feel ready, it is hard especially when they're attached and u do need to be strong. Let yourself have some time to think it all over before u move forward with it, its not the end of the world not getting it off her now, jm here if u ever need a chat xxx
Shellie·
Thank you hun. I've made another post to let it all out. Xxx

I personally believe these sorts of things can't be rushed and you shouldn't put pressure on yourself hun or her. Marcie is 17 months and I hide her dummys but if she hurts herself I give her one because it's for comfort. She has it for napping and sleeping and I intend to let her continue till she can understand that she's a 'big girl' and we get rid then.
Don't put too much pressure on yourself on what we should or shouldn't be doing with our kids. You know her best hun xxx

She is still only young. My lg is 2 and a half and went to see Santa and he had dummies on the tree. She came home and put hers on the tree so with her being a bit older had the understanding and didn't even ask or cry for them. I was amazed as she was very attached to them but has been almost a month without now. Over the last 6 months we had limited her to only bed and car so maybe that is an option to do it gradually? I think I was more upset than she was ha. X
