Name change? My son has my last name, when I marry my oh next year he wants to change his last name…

You need to get consent from biological father then apply for depol. Then with those forms back you can legally change his name. I have friends kids who have simply taken their step dads names but father can insist it is changed back. They then only had to use their birth surname on exam papers etc.

Legally you (he) can call himself what ever he wants but for id dad needs to consent xx

His dad isn't on his bc so does that mean it's easier?

I'm not married but I'm sure you just change it using your marriage certificate.

Also regarding deed poll you just change all your sons stuff using the deed, they send you a list of all the important things to change asap and things that can wait, like you can wait for his passport to expire before renewing it in his new surname x

Yours you just get copies of your marriage cert and take them with you. If you speak with minister/registrar they give you a form to change yours before so if you go away straight after the wedding.

If your surname is different to DS take his birth cert when you're traveling as I had to produce dd's in order to fly xx

Yeah you can, as long as your flight details are in your maiden name x

I got my passport changed before I got married. Vicar had to sign a form to confirm marriage so my passport became legal on my wedding day and it meant we could officially fly as Mr and Mrs xx

You can use your passport in maiden name as long as holiday is booked in that name too. I still use my old passport as it has another 5 years left on it!
