Cardiologist
So just seen our local cardiologist doctor for a check up for Isabella and all she kept going on about was weaning Isabella early! She's 14 weeks!! She only just drinks 3oz bottles! Sometimes not even that! She feeds every 2.5 / 3 hours roughly sometimes a little longer. I shouldn't should I!? she's going on about her gaining weight but she not struggling to gain weight! I'm not going to not yet!

If she is medically advising it hun maybe it should be something you consider just veg and fruit puree. Did she say she recommended it or what? If she didn't recommend it then obviously don't but if she did maybe contact your doctor or health visitor and see what they say xx

My cousin had a heart defect and my aunt was advised to wean early because the more weight he put on the stronger his heart would get. So she was advised to give as much milk as he wanted and fruit/veg purées and baby porridge in between milk feeds. However, this was a long time ago and heart problems are complicated so I'd want more info in your position.
Hope you find out more soon hun. xxx

We were advised to wean early but that was after open heart surgery. I think it might be because most cardiac babies tend to have trouble keeping the weight on. All babies are different though and if you don't feel the need too then go with your gut instincts. We also weaned early as my lb is NGTube fed his milk so it was to help with getting him off it x

She's had open heart surgery and she's only 14 weeks, she doesn't seem to have a problem keeping weight on she's only on 3oz bottles so I don't want to yet untill she's on more milk and a bit older xx

It's entirely up to you when you wean, you don't have to go on advice of them. My LB was 16wks when we started and has never had a problem with keeping his weight on, but we decided to early wean anyway. Mainly because of his feeding issue. I wouldn't of done it if he hadn't of had that issue. You're her Mummy and you know what is best ? x
