Laboring at home

Hi mama’s, I’m currently 33 weeks along and plan for a vbac. I had an emergency c-section 3 years ago with my twin daughters and would love to avoid the c-section recovery and medication this time around. I plan to labor at home until contractions are 5 mins or less apart. Any moms have any advice on laboring at home?

What pp said , don’t fight the contractions open mouth open cervix , practice different breathing techniques , and remember every wave has its purpose . When the contractions got very painful (transition) I switched to horse lip breathing , go to YouTube for different breathing techniques examples !

Definitely ask your doctor or midwife on when you should go in. VBACs usually require closer monitoring due the fact that there is a risk of uterine rupture and uterine ruptures usually happen before reaching 6cm.

Everything previous poster said!!

I had to close my eyes and just focus on controlling my breaths and not letting my body tense up with each contraction. Closing my eyes helped me shut everything else out and made it easier to get through each contraction. Bouncing on a labor ball, walking, squatting, swaying, anything but laying down lol. All of those motions help bring baby down and use gravity in your favor.

Good luck, momma! This will be my 3rd VBAC, I am hoping to labor at home this time and not be induced again.

Get an exercise ball to roll around on that helped me so much
Walk around
Start practicing deep relaxing breathing now
Don’t fight contractions remember it is good pain it is bringing baby down and into your arms
allow each wave to come
Write some encouraging words on notecards to look at during birth
Stay comfortable!
