Toddler VS Newborn
Does anyone else have/had a danger-prone toddler, on top of their newborn? Earlier this afternoon my toddler tried picking up my newborn, and let her fall back into the rock n play when she saw me round the corner. (Less than a foot drop). Of course she had me googling shaken baby syndrome all afternoon. Now this evening after my toddler fell asleep (we let her fall asleep in our bed, then move her to her twin bed) she went to switch positions while still asleep and let her foot dead drop on baby sister’s head while I was nursing the baby. It made a pretty good hard sound. Please give me some reassurance that these things happen. My big girl just turned 2 in October. She’s been an incredible help and loves baby sissy so much, but I’m so worried about her being so danger prone. She doesn’t understand it, of course, she’s still too young. My anxiety is going crazy over the thought of something happening to my sweet little one week old baby girl. Does anyone else have any toddler versus newborn stories to tell, to maybe ease my mind? I’m sure someone else has had children 2 years apart and has some stories to tell. My heart is racing, and I more than likely won’t sleep well tonight as I stare at my newborn to ensure that she’s perfectly fine. #anxietysucks

I have one too . Am due Saturday I hope she does well with her, yet the things that she does with her play baby after finish playing made me scared I guess only way is to pay close attention to the toddler and ignore baby while she is around. ?

My mom said my older sister was exactly like this when I was born. She always wanted to be holding me or near me and it put my mother on edge when she would come into the room and my sister was caught lifting me out of my swing or once even trying to pull me through a crib slot by the arm. She was always danger prone around me. My mom just had to keep reminding her that if she wanted to hold me that she needed to ask and eventually she understood. She was three when I was born.

My one week old took an Xbox controller to the head from my 2.5 year old a couple of days ago. All is fine, just keep reminding her that baby sister is tiny and needs all her love but to be careful

Fortunately, my 22 month old hasn’t done anything yet. But I’m waiting for the day. I just continue to repeat “be gentle with your baby sister, she’s very small and fragile” she seems to understand what I’m saying thus far. ??

My 23 month old picked up my daughter and walked her to me when she was 4 days old. It took me a good 5 minutes to get it together. He is a VERY active, rough & tough boy who is just getting into the terrible 2’s. We just keep explaining that the baby is little and we have to go easy and honestly it works 50% of the time. I constantly have to keep my arms out when he’s coming to see me to stop him from accidentally hitting her with an arm or foot. ??♀️??♀️ it’s not easy that’s for sure

My daughter will be 2 at the end of next month and if this baby ever comes out (40+4) they'll be nearly 2 years apart.
My daughter is a very sweet and helpful girl. But what does help mean to a toddler? We've had some experience with telling her to be gentle to the cats, so hopefully that will help.
I have nephews 3 years apart and the older one fed the baby sausage when the baby couldn't have more than 4 months old. Terrifying, but they're both still here.

My oldest was 5 when her sister was born... she fell on her when she was 8 weeks old... they’re still here. My second will be 4 in March and she has accidentally kicked our baby in the head. He’s 12 days old. I will say... kids are resilient. Lol
