Nighttime potty training
Nighttime potty training
So my ds is almost 5 and still not dry at night. I know that's completely normal and will eventually get there, but I'm just wondering if there's anything I should be doing to facilitate that. He still wears a diaper at night. He isn't wet every morning but about 3/4 of the time. So I'm not sure ditching the diaper yet is a great idea lol. Anyone who has some experience help!

I'd ditch the diaper. Let him wet the bed (put a plastic cover on the mattress first) a few times, he'll have a better understanding of his own body and fluids. Also, limit fluids a couple of hours before bedtime and make him go potty right before bed then get him up to go again before u go to bed.

We got rid of the diaper, and he's doing fantastic (2 and 1/2) but I also don't mind at all cleaning up messes, I know they're bound to happen.

Dd was potty trained day time at 2. There was a time for a week she was dry and started peeing again at night. Finally a week or 2 before turning 3, it just clicked and she started getting up on her own. It isn't something you can force

Did you have her out of diapers or still in them at night?

We had/are having this same issue with our 4 yr old. We discovered the issue is that our son is such a heavy sleeper still that the feeling of needing to pee doesn't always wake him. So we ditched the night time pull up, we limit fluids after 6 pm, and now when I wake to pee around 4 am, I wake him and have him over and then get back in bed. It only takes a minute, and there's a lot less laundry now ? I read that doing this will help train him into waking around that time to pee on his own eventually. That's only happened a couple times now, but that's a huge improvement from before!!

She's out of them. We have a mattress pad on her bed still since she's young but she always wakes me or her dad up when she has to go even though she doesn't need help. It's just become habit for her

For my son we just stopped putting a diaper on him. It took about a week. If he sleeps really really deep he might have an accident on occasion now but it only maybe once a month

Ss would know he was wearing a diaper so wouldn't bother getting up. We just took the diaper away so he was forced to get up. We would, make him go pee right before bed and cut liquids off an hour before bedtime. He's six and will occasionally still wet the bed.

The pp have the right idea. I took away his pull up at 3yrs old at night, he is now going on 5. He goes right before bed which is 7pm, then I wake him up around 2am to pee again. He is a very heavy sleeper so him waking up by himself is difficult. I have waterproof sheets that go on the bed, they sell them in rite aide. So if he has an accident, which only happens when he is sick, the mattress and sheets do not get ruined.

I didn't start potty training my son until he was 3. The first two days he ran around with underwear and at night he wore underwear. He peed the bed one time. Ever since then he has been day and night trained. I don't necessarily limit his intake but he slows it down himself at night. He goes pee before bed and when he wakes up first thing in the morning. I tried to wake my son up once in the night to pee and that seemed more of a disaster for us than letting him sleep.

I had a not so great childhood and wet the bed until I was in the second grade. I was such a heavy sleeper too I never woke up in time. We tried no drinks after 7 the "alarm" underware everything nothing helped. I don't know how I stopped but I did. Want to know the weirdest part I slept on the top bunk. Who puts the pee-er on top bunk lol
