Or those that have been. DH has to go out that way for a week for work. His hotel will be near the airport. Quick question is there a bus, train, trolley or whatever that goes to downtown dc? He doesn't want to pay for a rental car, but he can't not go see the White House, Capitol ect if he's going all the way out there anyway. Or how much (ballpark) is a cab or uber out that way? I've no clue as I've never taken a taxi anywhere. Thanks :)

What airport? Is it BWI or DCA? Rental is not a good idea since he will have to find parking. He could do Uber since a taxi will be too much. This weekend they just started working on the metro (train) so that has hindered a lot of the commute around here.

Thats like an 1 hour drive... Maybe he should get a rental. Taxi & Uber will be too much. VA traffic is not a joke. Tell him to take one day to site see after 9:30am to leave the hotel room and make sure he is on his way back before 2pm or wait until 8 pm. LOL

Yeah I k ow the traffic is ridiculous. I'll have to see if he can take an extra day or not. It's all being paid through work so well see.

There is a Metro train that he can take around DC, but it doesn't go from Dulles to DC. Whenever I've been in the DC area, I drove to a Metro station and took the metro into the city. I'm not sure what an Uber or Taxi would cost. Maybe he could get one of those to take him to a metro station and then back to the hotel, though beckon is right, it is a long drive. If he decides to rent a car, I'd still take the metro (drive the rental to the metro station and take the train into DC). Driving through DC is awful.

There's a bus that runs from Dulles to a few metro stops.

Tell him to use uber as it is much cheaper than a taxi. The metro is having some track problems at the moment, so uber is the safest bet

Dulles is pretty far from DC. An uber would be expensive, but getting a rental is problematic because driving in DC/VA is IMPOSSIBLE. A taxi would probably cost more than the uber :/ Basically any route he decides will include crazy amounts of traffic/ money.

The metro is down at certain stations. The delay could be 45-1hr. (In DC)
I would plan my trip if I was him. There's TONS of stuff to do in the area.
