I'm just so sad.
We got chicks a few weeks back for laying hens. Something I've always wanted to do, and I love them so much. But today my 3 big chicks, almost fully fledged out, passed and I'm heart broken. Something went wonky with the brooder while we were in town, and I think they overheated. I can't stop crying and I can't sleep because I've been obsessively checking on my little chicks who were in their own brooder because they're so much smaller. DS is crushed. He loved his friends. ? I feel like the worse chick mom ever.

You are not the worst chick mom. When I was younger we would get a new order of chicks every year. They came in the mail and we had to pick them up at the post office. Well, you are supposed to mix water and sugar together and get all the chicks to take a drink right away. One time my mom wasn't able to be there so my oldest brother mixed up the drink. ALL of the chicks died. He mistakenly used salt instead of sugar!
