It's normal. I'm 38 weeks And I went into labor on my own with my first. When they get 4-5 I would go in though.

With my first, I went to the hospital for my scheduled induction (I had high BP) and I was 5cm when I got there.

With my second, I woke up feeling crampy. An hour later, I was still cramping and by the time I got to the hospital per DH's request, I was 7cm. I'm no good at telling practice contractions apart from real ones.

I'd say you are very close!

I was in the same boat j was induced with my first so was freaking out with my second. It's hard to tell cause everyone's different if they start getting more and more painful it could be the really deal. Mine started out a few minutes apart and stayed like that, the amount of pain they cause was the only difference I could try to gauge with

Ok, so then you just have to keep track of your contractions, as soon as they're a few minutes apart, make a run for the door

I actually had a similar question, i don't want to repost basically the same thing so hopefully i can ask here... I'm a FTM and I was wondering how contractions feel, or where you feel them. (like it more like period type cramps or in your actual crotch) the reason i ask is because lately I've been having horrible 'lightening crotch' that really knocks my breath out and makes it very hard to walk etc. Well tonight i have been getting it seriously like every 20 minutes and i was just wondering if this is normal? Or could this be a sign of labor? I am 35 weeks but measuring at 39 according to my OBGYN..

lightning crotch is usually associated with your baby moving their head...contactions are cramping type pain in your pelvis sometimes your back and thighs. it comes on and the pain builds, reaches its Max and dies out the closer together they become the more painful they become. they also become longer you will feel your stomach tighten and as it tightenins it becomes more painful...that's the best I can do at explaining it.
