I'm still trying to get Layla on a good nap/sleep routine & we just moved her to the crib last week. My mother-in-law babysits once or twice/week and still has her napping on the sofa in the living room. She refuses to bring her upstairs to her crib because she says she's afraid to carry her up the stairs. That obviously doesn't make me excited about the idea, but what can I do? I know she naps better in the crib in her dark room...

How did you get Layla in her crib at night? I'm dying to get Em in her crib. Cosleeping just isn't working these days. Not enough room for the three of us. I read a lot of different sleep methods but I haven't tried them yet. I think I'm gonna try the sit in her room and each day move the chair away further method first. Not sure any of us can take CIO tho.

I guess it's better your MIL doesn't use the stairs if she's unsure of herself. That did make me cringe a little for you but it's better to be safe. How old is she? Does she have health issues? Sounds like she's trying to be safe with Layla. I know it's frustrating tho.

She's 69, very healthy but just nervous to have an accident, which I totally get and I appreciate the caution.
We also feel that cosleeping isn't working anymore. Honestly, one night I just got her to sleep in my arms (like I do most nights lately, mostly by nursing), and instead of putting her in our bed or pack n play, I put her in the crib. When she's tired enough she doesn't notice the difference, so I think that's how it's been working. But she's still waking 1-3x/night with at least 1 nursing session in there. So it's not awesome, esp having to get up and go to her room to nurse. But, overall, she is sleeping better in her own room. It's so weird! GL to you with the sleep methods & LMK how it goes!

69 is about the age my InLaws are too. My FIL could never take Em on the stairs but my MIL could. FIL has lots of Heath issues. Maybe she could use a baby carrier so she can be handsfree to hold the railing? Im a total clutz so I hold on to the rail when going up and down the stairs. If Em is tired enough she will sleep anywhere. Layla will sleep in her pack n play? Will she until her next feeding? Em has been waking up to eat once lately too. Maybe a growth spurt. Em slept 40mins in her pack n play last night but woke twice. The second time she won't not go back to sleep in it but did in our bed. I hope to try the crib while Hubby is on vacation. I'll let you know how it goes. Prayers Layla gives you a break. I'm sure your very tired at work. Hugs and please let me know how things are going.
