I'm right here with you. And now my son is waking every1-2 hours. I've tried everything. I've convinced myself he's just not a good sleeper and this too shall pass.
First of all, so sorry you're going through this, it can be extremely frustrating when you've tried everything and they keep crying and won't go to sleep. Sounds like your LO may be over tired, what's her bedtime? Maybe try putting her to bed a little earlier. Seems like you've got the routine thing down which helps a ton, so maybe it's just a temporary rough patch. My LO has a tough time at bedtime here and there where nothing we do settles her to sleep so we just let her lay in her crib, we check on her often, pat her, we do the shushing, everything to reassure her were still there, if she cries we pick her up to calm her but we keep it dark and quiet so she knows it's bedtime. Eventually she gives in and she lets us rock her to sleep. Those days are rough but knowing she'll eventually fall asleep helps a bit. Good luck and I hope it stops soon!
Sorry for the emotional rant...but thank you, pp, for the support & words of encouragement. Tonight, specifically, was sort of our fault. We made the mistake of taking her to dinner with some friends who have a 17-month old & didn't get home til 8, and she had fallen asleep in the car so I'm sure that screwed things up. But otherwise we try to get her down between 7-7:30 but should prob try earlier (although wed night we tried at 6:30 & it still took 2+ hours.) hoping it's just a rough patch, like you wrote.
@kwick - I guess I shouldn't complain!! Hugs to you & hope it improves for you, too, mama!
We also had a rough sleep regression at 4 months so I know how frustrating that can be! Last month (LO was 5 months) we traveled to stay with my parents for 3 weeks and I can tell you that my son literally ate through the night for the entire 3 weeks. Every 2-3 hours he was up for more milk. Since we were out of our normal routine anyway, and I figured it was the 6 month growth spurt, I let him eat next to me in bed and fed him on demand. He grew a ton! We do not normally bed share but I didn't have a rocker or a designated nursing spot at my parents' house, so it just sorta worked best for us. And at least I got some sleep though it was interrupted.
Now we are back home and getting on our routine again, and his first tooth just broke. It's a nightmare. We are using an oral gel to help his discomfort, but the other night it took us 5 hours to settle him in his crib. We gave baby Tylenol and drove him round the block -- in the end he fell asleep in my arms. I think there are times they just want mom. It's a very trying time -- personally, I try to stick to a routine but I wouldn't stress out about it being perfect every night. Things are going to happen to disrupt it and you should be able to enjoy the occasional dinner now and again. ?☺️ hang in there and I hope it will eventually pass! My son is still waking up at night to eat, but it's manageable and I'm so thankful for those nights he goes down by 8:30!!
What sometimes works for us is this little clock we have that casts light on the ceiling and plays music for 10 minutes. I got it off amazon. Our son loves it and it does a good job calming him down! One of the best purchases I made!! Just an idea ☺️
My little guy is sleeping through the night again but it's been a struggle getting him to sleep. Especially last night! It was 10:00 before he went down as well, and that was after 3 attempts of all the usual things. Finally I gave him 2 teething tablets and rocked him in my arms singing before he fell asleep. He's usually down by 8. I think it must be a rough patch all around. Honestly my first thought was, is it a full moon? Lol and up bright and early at 5:30 this morning, I about cried.
Oh and I wanted to share this too. I just recently found a teddy bear o was given at my shower and several times it has worked putting him to sleep. It's white with a big red heart on the chest. When you push the heart, the bear gently vibrates and a woman's voice hums a few baby lullabies. It goes for about 5-10 minutes. I will put it where he can see it but not right in his face and remove it after he falls asleep. It doesn't work always, but several times with the bedroom light off but the hallway light on so he can just barely see he has fallen asleep by himself. And I usually have to lay him down sleeping! Maybe you could find something similar?
I'm right there with you ladies. Mine was such a good sleeper until 4mo and its been the pits since. He is a crappy napper now too. I try to get him down at least by 8 or 830 but it's usually with nursing or rocking bc he won't sleep otherwise. Once he's out he's up every 1.5 to 3hrs max and the only thing to settle him is nursing him then he's right back out..but its All..night..long..then up at 9. I miss my good sleeper!
