Baptism dress Q
I thought I hated the super long traditional gowns, but now I'm starting to like them (but I still think they're kinda weird!). Thoughts on the style (extra long or normal baby dress length)? Why is the super long dress a thing? And if you don't mind sharing, around how much did you spend? The Godfather traditionally pays for the dress but I feel weird asking for $160 just because that's the cost of the one I like.

I think both dresses are beautiful. We went with a short dress. Ours was from Amazon and cheap. Maybe about $50. Her Godmother bought it. You can maybe split it with him if you think it's too much. For me Em's Baptism dress was like picking my wedding dress I just knew it was the one but we're only have one kid too.

Oh my.....I wish I could post a photo comment......my mom made a long dress for my first baby......out of her wedding dress....we baptized my nephew in it also.....then.....two weeks ago.....we added lots of the appliqués from my dress on the baptism dress......and my second daughter was baptized in it. It is gorgeous.....although....I might be biased!!

My parents kept the one my brother and I were done in. They had it framed. I've used it for all of my kids. It's an old antique long dress. I love the tradition of it.

Thanks for the replies! I'm struggling with picking the dress more than I expected to (like Tara, I'm almost thinking of it like picking out my wedding dress!)
@julanesh - I wish I could see a pic! It sounds lovely! And gives a good argument for the longer gown.

My daughter had one of the long ones . It was beautiful but extremely hard to hold her in so she only wore it during church and wore another dress for her party . Her god parents paid $300
