I'd tell them. Like someone said - having support of family is awesome! Today you are pregnant - enjoy it! If something bad happens, they will be there for you. Having had a miscarriage, I found so much support in family and friends. We announced at 5 weeks this time around.

Id wait or beg to change the appointment.

Thanks for the support, ladies! I think I will tell- mainly because I just don't think I could go through a whole holiday keeping that to myself!

I have never been a fan of waiting until it's "safe" to share. For one, pregnancy loss can happen at any time, not just in the initial 12 weeks. For two, if I did experience a pregnancy loss, I'd need my family and friends to know about it. Not that I'd really want to talk about it, but I'd need them to understand why I might be suddenly not wanting to go out and have fun. They would know I was grieving and give me the grace needed to grieve. Out of all the women I know who have miscarried, the ones who had the hardest times with it were the ones who were keeping things secret and had to grieve in private and carry on with their lives as if nothing happened in front of everyone else.

If you want to tell, go for it! I'm 5 weeks today, won't have my first appointment until may 1st...but we have all ready announced to everyone.

I would still tell! But we always tell our families early. My family is pretty close and if I had a miscarriage (even if it was before they knew I was pregnant), everyone would find out anyway. But do what makes you feel comfortable! I just can't keep a secret from my sisters and after my immediate family knows, the whoooole family knows because no one can keep a secret :) This time everyone knew when I was around 6 weeks but I won't post anything on Facebook until closer to 12 weeks.
