So i have a 2 year old dd and she STILL wants the bink (ninny, dummy, pacifier, bobo... whatever u call it) to the point where she cries bloody murder if she doesnt have it. Its only when she sleeps and for her nap time or when shes tired... Her 1 year old brother has it so she thinks she should have one too. My son is learning to talk and can do without it most of the time, but my 2 yo dd can legit have an entire convo with you... how do I get her to stop with the bink. I was gonna go cold turkey for the new year but somethin is tellin me thats a bad idea. What do you guys think?

My husband said he cut off the tip of his first sons pacifier and gave it to him. And every time ds asked he gave him the same pacifier. He threw a fit the first couple of times. But after awhile his ds threw it down and never asked for it again.

Just throwing them out of the picture completely is the best way. She will scream and cry but she will soon realize she doesn't need it and will forget about needing to have it. I started taking my daughter's binky away when they turned 1 because it can mess up their teeth. My niece and nephews teeth are messed where they had binkies in their mouth because my sister let them have them beyond age 2. Maybe if you let your child pick out a stuffed animal for becoming a big kid it will make the transition easier. Just remind your child that they are a big kid now and don't need a baby binky

With my DD just before she turned 2 we had it down to only at bed or nap time. Then I cut the tip of bit by bit every few days. Eventually she realized she couldn’t suck on it the same and didn’t want it anymore.

With my son, we snipped off little by little.. by the third day he noticed and he would just hang on to it. But I snipped it a few more times and he actually did pretty well. BUT he stopped napping at the time he use to bc he didn’t have that “comfort” anymore lol I did it two weeks before his 2nd bday in sept. I quit cold turkey breastfeeding.
And u can always just toss them so u don’t get tempted to give the paci compared to if you hide it

My dd is a little over 2 and we just quit it cold turkey over thanksgiving break. When she'd want it we'd offer something else like a snack or water before a nap or distract her as quick as possible. Also my dh told her the dog took it. First 2 days were rough but by the third it's like she never had it.

We cut my daughter off when she turned one. We did it cold turkey. She missed it to nap and sleep so we started offering her a little blankey. I was amazed on how quickly she adapted.

Personally I would throw them away including the 1yr old....it’s really not needed and they can find other ways to soothe. Especially at that age. I mean to each is own but i stopped my first at 10months and this one will be the same and I’m glad I’m not making them dependent on them either. Sometimes more food or drink to fill them helps.

Not to mention it’s a choking hazard to cut but by bit off, doctors tell you not to even use them with holes cause they can choke them
