My brothers got a trial on Monday for 3 days for something that happened to him long story short he was assaulted ended up in intensive care and needed brain surgery so the guy was charged with GBH Without intent so he went not guilty now it's gone to trial I've got to be a witness and give evidence cos I was first on the scene ( neighbor came to tell us what happened) so my question is what will happen on the day? I'm so so nervous I haven't met with the solicitor yet x

You arrive and will be met by witness care at the reception. You will then be taken to a separate room with witnesses away from the defendants.
There you meet with the cps lawyer and the barrister for the defence.
You will get chance to read your statement. Then it's lots of waiting around. The court usher will come and collect you. You go into the box, swear on a bible (or alternative if not for you) then they will ask you questions usually answers are yes or no. Be honest. If you can't remember say so.
It's scary but you can do it and you're not on your own. They can't get you there xx

Oh and in most cases they plead not guilty until the day. If all witnesses turn up they change their pleas. They do it in the hope the witnesses won't and they discontinue it all xx

Thanks vix dosent sound as bad as what I thought just hope he does go guilty as they have cctv so once he knows there's footage maybe he might change his plea xx

He should already know there is footage & it will be used. Depends what grounds e.g. If he's saying the level of injury wasn't intentional etc. However most cases go with an early plea. Xx

Explain that to them. Odds are you won't be needed all three days and they can work around it xx
