Belly button hernia.....

My son had an inguinal hernia he did need surgery to fix it but I've read belly button ones usual heal themselves, I would take him to the doctor for them to check it out x

My son has an umbilical hernia. It often looks more popped out, especially when he was a baby. It didn't seem to give him much bother though.

He's 3.5 now and it's still there. They often go on their own but now they say it's more unlikely as he's older. We're waiting to have surgery as he's needed surgery for other (unrelated) things. I'd take him to the GP if he seems bothered by it, although often babies have wind/colick/reflux and it's not related to a hernia. Hope your baby is ok xx

My daughter did, if when he's relaxed and not crying its soft and you can push it in. Then it's nothing to worry about & will go on its own. My lil miss is 3months old it's virtually non existent and it was huge. Every time I bathe her I push it in for 10secs.

My son had 3 hernias, a belly button one and two at the top of his winky. He was really bad with wind and feed then one day I noticed a big bulge at the top of his bits. Took us a couple of a&e visits and a few GP visits before anyone would do anything. He finally got an operation for the two but they said the belly button one goes on its own most of the time. After his op he was so different. Just so mad that they left him for so long he was clearly in pain.
