Helpppp
My supply doesn't seem to be enough for LO. He is a little over three weeks. This week I've been mostly exclusively pumping to make sure he is getting the ounces. He's been taking in about 2 ounces per feeding but then he is still hungry. So I put him on my breast and let him feed from that as well but then he just falls asleep. He doesn't really effectively feed unless from a bottle. He's a very lazy eater.

I haven't needed to up my supply but my baby was a lazy eater too and it's helped to strip him down to a diaper for every feeding to help keep him awake for the entire feeding.

Are you pumping as many times as he feeds? Or is he directly breastfeeding for some feedings and then getting pumped milk for others? If you're exclusively pumping you'll want to pump at least 8 times. A pump is less effective than a baby would be so what you get out during a pump session isn't necessarily what your supply truly is. Also have you tried power pumping to increase your supply? It's where you pump for 20 min, rest 10 min, pump 10 min, rest 10 min, pump 10 min. I typically do mine after a long stretch (like my morning pump after I've slept 4 hours) as I typically stick to 2-3 hours between pumps otherwise. A power pump may not increase your supply that day but usually within a few days to a week you'll see a difference. I exclusively pump so it wasn't like I saw a huge increase in ounces but I did see my numbers go up slightly each day at first. I also make sure I'm drinking plenty of water and eating enough calories. I did start taking legendairy capsules - I did the starter pack and they were all good honestly. You can find them on etsy or their own website - it's a supplement for increasing supply. I didn't do that until I had exhausted other methods of increasing supply first.

Make sure the flaps on the breast pump are properly installed. When I first opened my pump, I removed the tiny rubber circular tabs because I thought it was apart of packaging which only allowed for an ounce during pumping. Once I figured out that I removed the most important piece, I purchased a pack from the store and once installed, the milk start gushing out from the pump. Hopes this helps.

Pump every 3-4 hours for 15 minutes. If baby is not effectively latching/feeding then your milk supply will decrease. You can take fenugreek or milk thistle to increase your milk supply, drink plenty of water, and try Lactation cookies with steel oats. Most important make sure baby doesn't loose more than 10% of his body weight- you may need to supplement with formula. I had the same issue with my first child.
