I am this allergic to amoxicillin as well. They kept trying it on me every few years when I was younger bc "kids usually grow out of it" well, I did not. Luke warm Aveeno oatmeal baths will help with the hives as well as ice packs. I hope your poor babe feels better soon :( ask his pedi if you can also use the topical benadryl gel on his hives.
Poor baby! I second mamabirds advice. Aveeno oatmeal bath all the way. It won't cure him by any means but it'll calm and soothe it alot. That plus the benadryl, he'll be back to his rowdy lil self in no time. Hang in there mama! It's so hard when our babies don't feel well and we can't fix it for them. Hugs for you both!
My sister is allergic to amoxicillin too. She didn't become allergic until she was about 12 years old. We both had been given it multiple times when we were younger and then just one day, she was allergic.
My dd was on day 7 of amoxicillin and looked worse then this and her feet swelled and turned blue. A day of Benadryl did nothing we had to get steroids, after one dose and 2 hours later the hives were almost gone.

My son had the same reaction on day 5 of amoxicillin that he had taken numerous times before.

Looks pretty dang similar! and @pp that's why I didn't think it was a reaction because he's been on it before. I'll bring it up to the doctor.

Yikes! Now I’m freaking out because my daughter is currently on amoxicillin even though her dad is allergic.

That’s what happened to me as a child from amoxicillin. I can still remember the huge welts.
Thankfully my kids have never had a reaction to it.
