Need help before 10:30 am
Hey ladies. My son has his 9 month appointment this morning and his pediatrician is going to draw 2 vials of blood. I've never heard of his. Have any of your little ones had to have this happen? I guess she does this for l babies. I'm going to question her.

Nope. Our 9 mo appointment was on Monday and it was just a general check up to see how things were going.
I'd be asking the doctor why this is needed.
Edit: I googled this for you and found that it is common for some doctors to do this to check iron levels, anemia, lead and also a cbc.

A lot of doctors like to check iron levels to know if babe needs to take iron tablets. I'm a phlebotomist (draw blood) and when I worked in the hospital that was a pretty common thing to get blood from 9 month olds.

Out ped drew blood during 9 months check up for iron and lead. It wasn't bad at all! Good luck mama!

Yepp! Ask them to take it from your child's finger. When they drew blood from my daughter they couldn't find a vein in either arm, so they ended up doing her finger. (She was pricked 3 times) :(

Missjazzie they did the same for my son. It was awful. They couldn't find the vein. It was AWFUL!!!!!!!! They ended up doing his toe.
