You still have time to switch doctors.

An hour is nothing because the usual wait time at a specialist's office is generally is 1 hour and up. It also depends on the volume of patients. My tip for being seen fast is to ALWAYS make the 1st appointment.

I agree with Chouchouhoney. If you’re able to, book the first appointment of the day. That’s what I do for both my regular OB and specialist appts. I’m in and out quickly because I don’t have to wait for the docs with their previous patient because there is no one before me.

I try to schedule my appts at the end of the day so I wont have to take off or stay to work late to make up those extra hours but I may have to be one of the first ones. Bc that was ridiculous. I guess I'm used to getting seen at my old drs office within minutes so waiting 2 hours just to be taken back was a little out of the ordinary for me. The receptionist said they scheduled 108 patients JUST for the morning. So who knows how many they had that afternoon

It would be kinda hard to awitch too bc I'm high risk and previously, I had to go to two drs, my reg obgyn and a high risk specialist. And it's super hard to get an appt at that high risk dr. Maybe I should just suck it up and be patient for now ?

The wait times def suck but I typically don't mind them! Front office staff is typically s*** ty but the wait and the s*** ty staff are worth it bc I absolutely love all the midwives I see! So if you enjoy the doctor u see, try to stick with it if you can I know it sucks and it's hard! But it's almost over with girly ?

Are u sure ur doctor didn't have to deliver a baby ? N maybe that's y it was so backed up ? When my doctor delivers a baby it could be a good three hours ?? happens rarely when I'm there tho but at least twice with both pregnancies ..if he has to deliver a baby I'm extra patient n maybe run some errands for an hour ..Bc when I'm in labor I would want my doctor taking his time delivering my baby n I would hope other patients r being patient as well good thing my doctor is in walking distance from hospital to office

@sammie no I don't think so. I asked a couple of times what was the hold up and they just said they're backed up bc they had so many patients scheduled. I just switched to this office and only had maybe 6 visits, including two ultrasound visits (they schedule those separately). And each time I get someone different. I'm not used to them since I was at my other. Dr's office for 3 years and i knew them. So maybe that could be it too. I'm going to give it another try and see if it's any better

Ugh with my first I ended up changing drs at 36 weeks!!!! My obgyn failed to tell me she was pregnant and she was so small I never would have guessed because of her lab coats :/ it sucked but I got over it. I found a better obgyn anyways :) good luck hun!!!

@squatch that sucks!!! How was your new dr after switching so late? Did you like the treatment?

I had to wait over an hour when I went last week. My doctor tries to deliver for all of her patients vs using the on call doctor. Because of this she gets backed up easily. I don't mind waiting bc I know she will likely be there when I deliver vs having one of the other doctors. This is especially important for me bc I'm going for a VBAC and I'm not sure how VBAC friendly the on call doctor will be. But I know some offices will schedule 3 or 4 patients for each appt time. If that's the case, I would be annoyed.

@texxie yea my new dr was awesome I actually liked him better than the one who had gotten pregnant. I think I was more comfortable at first since she was a woman but I LOVE my male obgyn!!!!

I changed doctors about 3 wks ago mainly because of insurance. It was hard finding someone but i eventually found a dr more experienced than my other dr. Its also a male ?? which i didnt want but he seemed nice. And wasted no time introducing himself to my husband. My last dr was scaring me with low birth weight abd placenta previa and c sections and pelvic rest!! ?? So far he has said nothing about any of that so its just a little relief. You gotta do whats best for you. I also agree with earlier times afternoons are the worse!!

I switched from my OB to midwives at 5 months with my 3rd child. Best decision ever! Not only did I get the VBA2C I was hoping for, but I loved not having to wait for over an hour for my appointments.
