So I had my ultrasound today on my right breast bc I have a pea sized cyst. The ultrasound tech and the Dr both said wow that's hard or I wasn't expecting to feel that. The Dr said he wants to do a biopsy next week. I asked if that is safe to do while I'm pregnant? He hesitated and said I guess we can wait three months and check it again to see if it changed in size. I'm sorry is this an issue or not? Does this needs to be taken care of or not? They're initial tones were serious until I asked about my pregnancy. Anyone else have experience with cysts while pregnant??

That's what I was thinking too. I don't go back to the ob for another month but I think I may need to call them before then

Problem is: any medications you may need for numbing could effect the baby and the first trimester is the MOST CRITICAL time for a fetus.. I could understand how they would be hesitant. Maybe call your PCP and discuss it as well and get their thoughts as well?

The Dr said they would numb it but didn't say if that would affect the baby....maybe I do need a second opinion. Thanks ladies

I have breast cysts. It has been there for over 10 years, the biggest one is about 6 cm. And every time i try an IVF it hurts soooo bad and gets bigger. The hormones makes it grow. My Dr advised me to leave it but do check it every 6 months, also he refused to do a surgery cuz it will come back. And I believe that cuz my 2 cousins done the surgery twice and it did came back.

My advise is to leave it for now, and check it after you give birth.

Thank you. I had one before as a teen but my Dr just told me to take vitamin e I believe and nothing ever came of it. I'm guessing this one is bigger which is why they are concerned about it. I'll definitely check to see what would be the better option

I'd be inclined to get it checked out. Diagnostic stuff like ultrasound and biopsy shouldn't affect a pregnancy. Unfortunately, I've known a couple women who were diagnosed with breast cancer during pregnancy. ?

I have fibrocystic breasts, its usually caused by fluctuating estrogen so can happen in pregnancy too. I have had a biopsy of a cyst before and it is not painful and there was no medications involved so I would think perfectly safe in pregnancy. If they know it is just a cyst there is no urgent need for a biopsy and it may go away on its own anyway. Mine come and go :)

I want to make sure I take all of the precautions so I will have satisfaction knowing I did all I could. I will definitely inquire about that on Monday. I'm actually switching drs so I don't know if I should talk to the old or new drs about it
