i feel drained

I'm5 days PP, and I feel alone, drained, overwhelmed, etc. I have been in tremendous amount of pain. And it took me 5 hours to calm down my LO. He was just gassy. I literally just got him to bed. I've been with LO since 9 AM while DF spent the day with SS, but DF took over the night before so I could rest. I knowits part of bring a mom, but I feel so alone. Earlier, I felt like a failure because I couldn't calm down LO. I cried so hard, my dad comes in and just tells me to relax and he took LO. I only ate once today, I have no appetite. But what really upsets me is that I'm unable to breast feed... I bride down crying in the hospital because I felt horrible. That was my goal. I know my hormones are out of whack because I'm no longer pregnant, but I feel like shat. DF thinks I have PPD, but I don't know. I'm sorry if it's all over the place, I'm just being emotional.

Try gripe water for gassiness. And I would jump straight to PPD yet, you're a brand new mom and you are tired and drained and still getting the hang of things and hormones are all out of whack.

May I ask why you were unable to breastfeed? Maybe a LC could help?

Edit: Wouldn't **

Do you burp him after a feeding? That's super important, my son would shriek like he was dying if I didn't burp him. Also agree with gripe water.

Is he having regular poopy diapers. I used probiotics for my first that was gassy and colic and they helped a lot. Also look into an infant chiropractor. Sometimes babies just need a little adjustment. Birth can be hard on their bodies. I wouldn't jump to sit formula unless your pediatrician recommend it. Could be the bottle you are using. With my gassy baby, I found the platex bottle with drop in liner worked best for her.

And the first couple weeks as a new mom are hard. Your hormones are all over the place and you are exhausted. You are doing great. Take help when it is offered and ask for it if needed. Make sure to take some time for yourself. I would always take a long shower or bath if I had help. It will get easier

Firstly don't try gripe waters he's too young, it's from minimum 4weeks old

I agree with the others try a different formula if he's ff.

I was so overwhelmed when I had my baby, I would literally sit there watching him sleep and cry. I just felt like I had this massive responsibility and I didn't see how I could do it.

As my laundry piled up, and I hadn't cooked a decent meal in a couple weeks I finally just told me self to snap out of it.

It was hard the first 4 weeks, baby was literally attached to my boob, the little time he wasn't I tried to eat and get a little housework done.

If you and ur partner are concerned of ppd I would defo mention it to ur dr, dnt ignore it.

You will get there op, stay strong. Xx

The first few weeks/months are hard. You and baby are both getting used to each other and figuring things out. I promise it gets better but if you are feeling depressed please don't be afraid to seek help. And don't be afraid to ask for help from your family. I don't know your circumstances for not being able to breastfeed but I know how defeating it feels. If you ever need to talk you can message me or snap me. I hope things start looking up for you.

At this point it's just "baby blues". It's normal and most women have it right after birth. If it lasts more than a few weeks talk to your doctor. My dd is 3.5months old. I remember those first few weeks all too well. It's so overwhelming.

You will get through this! I know it seems like it's not going to get any easier & how alone in this you feel. You are not alone & it will get easier I promise. You are a wonderful mommy!

I know you have a good support system, but sometimes it feels good to talk to someone who has been there recently & knows what you're going through. Pm me if you want. I'm here to listen if you want to talk. Hugs! ?

I too was afraid of ppd shortly after giving birth. I cried over nothing, I was exhausted and overwhelmed with everything. I felt lonely too, SO was working so much, I was home alone with a brand new baby, trying to recover from a c section, taking care of ss and when SO was home we didn't spend much time together at all. My doctor said to give it 2 weeks. The baby blues last around 2 weeks, she said if I was still that upset and crying over everything at my 6 week check up we'd talk about ppd. I mean these cries were awful, it was like full blown crying, like I was heartbroken and it was gut wrenching just bawling my eyes out and I didn't know why. I loved my son from the moment he was born, I had no reason to cry. After about 12 days it just disappeared. Yes I was still exhausted and trying to get the hang of being a mom and functioning on little to no sleep but the sadness and crying just stopped. Give it 2 weeks OP your hormones are a mess right now. I hope it gets better for you soon! ❤

Sorry mama it sounds like you have baby blues... That's exactly what I went through too for a week. It can vary. But if you go long enough with it it can turn to ppd. Pls talk to someone or ask for help from your parents or SO. You're not alone despite what you tell yourself!

If you ever want to vent I'm here for you! Letting out your emotions is ok! I got over it quick because I had a good friend from bb who helped me thru it. Hope it goes away quick!

You CAN do this! Being a mama is hard but being a brand new mama is even harder! Let people help you! Let your DF, your dad and other friends and family feed you, let them help clean and let them watch your LO so you can rest. I know that it's hard and you want to be supermom but the only way you can be the best you is by taking care of yourself!

Totally normal to feel that way. For what it's worth, things absolutely do get better. The beginning is super tough.. ?

Thank you ladies. DF and I went out with LO today. We went to Walmart, home depot, and Walmart again for an AC unit for my room, then I took DF and my dad out for dinner. It felt nice to get out of the house. I also went out for a 5 minute bank trip while my sister watched LO, he was sleeping and I cried a bit but the bank is literally to the street. I could walk there. I can't beat fees because he won't latch. I just got my pump today but I'm using it tomorrow. He's doing good with his formula, I do burp him but sometimes it isn't enough for him and then now he's eating almost 4 oz of formula. But DF has been helping me a lot but I moved back home due to not having enough space over his place. He's moving in, in February-March when his lease is up since dad is moving in the upstairs apartment soon. It's a hard being a full time mommy until he comes home from work.

I was still in the hospital with ds at 5 days pp and a nurse told me that that's a very emotional day for new moms. Your hormones are freaking out, you're tired and a new mom. Take it easy and be gentle with yourself.
