Honestly even if you go into labor with no experience and no idea what's going to happen you'll be fine. There's no really telling how your labor will go... It could be fast or slow, just depends on you and baby. If you get an epidural you won't feel a thing but if you don't then just know there is a "transition" period in CM I think is 6cm to 7cm? Which hurts soo much... Don't be afraid of getting an epi. I wanted natural but something told me to get an epi and I got it and I'm glad I did because I would have been in excruciating pain since my sons head was not coming out straight at birth.

What happens after though is what no one tells you about. Going PP be prepared for baby blues, which is like pregnancy hormones times 10. You'll bleed a lot so have pads ready and ask them how to make an ice diaper. Also if you plan to BF have the lactation consultants number that the hospital provides you handy. When you leave the hospital take all the stuff you can, pads, pampers, wipes, ect.

I heard you get mesh panties, where can I get all that at? I heard they work for the pads the make you wear. What are some things that i should stock up on for pp? I already got some always pads (I'm allergic to a lot of pads). Will they let me wear my robe after labor? I'm cashing in my check Monday so I want to get things I absolutely need.

The mesh undies the hospital has get lots of them for when you go home in case of heavy bleeding

For a bit the hospital has you wearing a pad that basically runs from your belly to the small of your back

You can wear your robe but don't if you're attached to it the bleeding right after birth is intense like you can feel the most disgusting gush every time they massage your uterus or shift position in any way

Also you may or may not notice that pp bleeding smells gross it's just your uterus healing

To me it smelled like yucky meat

Get a spare phone charger

You may want something to keep your hair out of your face

An abdominal support is a good thing to have since your going to have weak muscles

A good supportive bra is a must with my first within 2 days pp my milk came in and it hurt to jiggle

Have on hand after: something to soothe your nipples. Overnight pads. Comfortable underwear. Comfortable clothes. Good bra. Loose clothing that can easily be pulled for breastfeeding (if applicable). Grab snacks.

They give you nipple cream at the hospital if you need more relief you can use your own breast milk!

You'll need pads you can use whatever kind of pads you want. Just make sure they are the overnight kind because you will bleed A LOT. You can wear a robe or you can wear two hospital gowns lol which is exactly what I did, didn't want blood to seep thru to my own clothes. If the hospital doesn't provide it you'll want to get dermoplast, it's a life saver!

I had 10 hours of natural labor and 12ish hours of induced labor. I made them induce me slowly as I didn't want to rush my body, I wanted to be as natural as possible. They started at a 3 and upped it by 1 ever hour. My doctor wanted it faster but I told him no as there was no complications. I had to be induced because labor stalled completely and nothing was working to move it along. The natural labor, I could handle the contractions, but 6 hours into getting induced, I got the epidural. It was unbelievably painful about 3 hours into getting induced. I was having minute long contractions every 20-30 seconds. I sobbed and shook through each and every one. But after the epidural it was so much better. When it got time to push, I felt nothing. I felt pressure with every contraction so I could time when to push. The doctor massaged me while i pushed and my LO was born within 10 minutes and I had no tears! If you plan on breastfeeding, just know that it really sucks at first. It is painful and exhausting at first, but it is worth it. Recovery is so tough though. I had horrible back pain because I got a nerve pinched with my epi and I couldn't sit or stand for long periods of time, which made breastfeeding tough. Epsom salt baths were AMAZING after I had baby, they helped with the pain and itchiness down there so much. Stock up on HUGE overnight pads, big and comfy underwear, maybe even a small pack of depends. I had 0 control over my bladder the first few weeks and would randomly pee myself for 2 more weeks after that. I forced myself to pee every 2 hours to avoid accidents lol. I'm sorry I typed so much but I just think its so important to have an idea of what might happen during and after birth. I saw that you're also a young mom, I had my LO t 17, I'm 18 now with a 4 month old, message me anytime you want!

Oh take your own pillow in a colorful case hospital pillows suck they're generally flat and make noise every time you move your head.

Oh. And if your hospital doesn't provide you with a sitz bath I would absolutely buy one. My hospital gave them out but I know some that don't. They are a world of relief for the va jay jay. As well as the peri bottle... Definitely take that home

Ask for epi foam! It numbs you down there and is magical.

I bought a comfy robe, wore it the whole time . when it was bf time just bam and boobies were liberated and ready to feed baby!

The hospital will give you the mesh underwear. I hated the hospital pads. I used the Always overnight pads. Definitely ask for the Epifoam and Dermoplast. They're life savers! Drink lots and lots of water postpartum. I wore a robe after birth. It's way more comfortable. They have to come in and press on your tummy to make sure your uterus is shrinking properly so it makes exposing your tummy much easier for the nurses and you.

Oh! And keep the peri bottle. That thing is the best invention EVER.
