Don't feel bad. My mom threw me a surprise baby shower. I guess she didn't really understand how these things work. Bless her little kind heart. So she invited all of HER friends and a few family members. I knew nobody at my shower, besides my cousin and sister in law out of about 20 people. Talk about awkward. I got some great gifts though!
Opening them was the worst bc I had no clue who was who, so it was a guessing game of " and this highchair is from.... Christi...uh.. kristin.. Carol??? Thank you...where ever you are.... "
Everyone was polish so I was butchering their names pretty damn bad. I was so embarrassed. ??

Boo at your friends. I hate when people flake on me, but it's better to be happy for what you have than to waste time lamenting over what couldn't be. I wonder if people don't show up to baby showers because they don't have gifts. It happens a lot.
And lastly I'm not good with that question. Just had baby #3 and all I ever bring are comfy clothes, clothes to go home, and my phone charger. Hospital provides so much and the time flies by so I never even need anything else I see all these women bringing.
Wow you're very blessed by your cousins. I'm sorry ppl bailed on you, I will say for teens it's harder because they are doing other things/other interests. With that being said it happens all the time to everyone. Idk why ppl just seem to not show to baby showers. Just enjoy the day for what it is. It's awesome you received so much. I'd start stocking up on pads and stuff now. How much longer til you're due?
@lilmunches..same thing haha. There was 50 plus probably at mine and I didn't know probably like 15 to 20 of them. I'd met them at least once before so probably SHOULD have remembered their names, it was horrible lol. When it was time to say thank you I'd just look up in any direction and hope they were over there lol.
Op that sucks only one person came, but it sounds like you had a good shower (thanks to your cousins) & nice weather, & look at all the things you have no to be excited over!! Maybe some of the friends who couldn't make it today can make it to your second one.

I second shower shoes big time. Headache Meds for hubby and snacks for him as well. Dirty clothes bag to keep things separate. An empty bag to take home the goodies the hospital sends with you.

I'm sorry no one showed up, that's upsetting and I'm so sensitive it would definitely stick with me for a while.
Just try to think about the positives and brush off the negative - you can't change it now. I also want to add that I'm 29 and my friends all ditched me during pregnancy (none of them have kids). It sucks
Definitely make sure the pads aren't scented and have no bad chemicals. I would just buy 2 packs and keep them in the bathroom. I was able to get out and go to the store by the time I needed more. I got a lot of free ones from the hospital. And I loved their booty short underwear! Haha! I took a few pair home of those too lol
Thank you ladies. Also should I bring a duffle bag so I can fit all my stuff and baby's stuff? And his diaper bag? Or bring a smaller bag and his diaper bag?
@,pp I'm allergic to scented pads and certain pads so I always use the always heavy flow (I had my period for 9 days pre-pregnancy) and they were the thin ones.
I hear ya, you read about baby showers being so extravagant. When we throw one it's a flop. Kinda unnerving.
I moved away from my hometown, I didn't think I'd have so many high school friends that wanted to give me things, but oh well.
We moved to the hubby's side of the family, 19 hours away.
They failed to tell us they are going bankrupt, and they where our helping hand till the jobs kicked off . His mom snarled at everything that I wanted to do for my showerv, such as balloons and location, and games , food, to the point I said f*** a shower I don't want one, And then they are like you have to, so in one week I scraped one together, at a Bowlin alley, it was a decent one. And his mom promised a lunch on her. I got a small fry, and a water for starts, she invited about three ppl, their gifts where nice , until I got to my mother in laws, she went to goodwill for every thing, a teething ring (yuck) used under ware for my hospital bag, used dirty baby tub, stained cloths and a boys ( having a girl) blanket made from a random church. ( mind you she had just spent 400$ on a second dog and bought some unnecessary things at goodwill that she didn't need)
But because it was the day b4 mothers day, she made me a necklace out of beads and also gifted my bothers temporary girl friend who's 20 years older then him and my self, the same gift I got. Then as I was expecting to bowl and have lunch.....
everyone made an excuse to leave just as I had to potty, I came back and every one was gone no lunch , nothing . The shower lasted about 40 mins. I never felt so ditched in my life.

You should also pack some type of slippers and shower slippers maybe. They came in handy for me.
